Does anyone know the torque specs for the bolts that hold on the factory recovery loops? I cant seem to find it anywhere in the FSM. Thanks.

Pretty sure this has been asked before but I can't remember what the conclusive answer was...I do recall that what we believe to be factory recovery loops technically are the factory "tie-down" loops for shipping or towing on a flat bed. But, people use them all the time for recovery but be careful.

As to the torque specs, I'd do a search here on MUD and see what comes up. If that doesn't net you anything then I'd refer to the Slee rear bumper installation and use those torque specs.

Step 10, 11, or 12 have the torque specs...I just can't remember right now exactly where the tie-downs are located on the rear as I removed mine when I installed my Slee rear bumper.

I've always just installed mine with the impact wrench. Its a large fine thread bolt that wold take a lot to strip out using a hand wrench. As tight as you can get them with a 1/2" drive and you should be fine. But that's just my opinion.

Really really tight.

Tight should work. When in use, most of the force applied to them would be shear force. What's more important than fastener torque in this application is bolt strength, as that is what resists the bolt being sheared when force is applied to the loop.

I needed to get some longer bolts to use the stock recovery loops with the ARB, so went with Grade 8 (or whatever the metric bolt grade would be that is equivalent.) Might be overkill, but this is one application where you don't want a soft bolt.
