on a stock hj60 2h diesel, 5 speed, 4.11 diffs i managed 140kph, or 87.5mph. that was on a slight down hill, and that would have been pushing 3000rpm on the motor. since it should rev to 4000, i rekon i could push it more ;)

What does the speedo read on a 60? Both my 62's read 110mph.

If I remember correctly, on a 60 its only like 85 or 90 MPH.

FWIW ..... I regularly ran my 60 between Missoula and Minneapolis @ 65-70mph and it was fine, smooth as hell actually. Any more then that and I would be scared trying to get it stopped in an emergency.

Cheers - Nate

Had mine close to 80, but can cruise ok at 70, but try to keep it a little under.... 32's with stock gears and calculating for spedo error. 65 on spedo is actually 70-71.....radar tested!!

usually on highways i go about 100km/h, the max speed i've made is 120km/h i think that's about 70mph on almost 3000rpms with my 30's. but my dad said that once when the truck was new he made 150km.

one question: i'm planning on going for some 35's and with 35's what gears would take me back to stock relation? cause some of you said that with 4.88 you lose overdrive and i woudn't like to lose any cause i do a lot of highway

90 mph....

is my top speed. I was on a downhill straightaway with no traffic...thought the truck was gonna explode and I just watched the gas gauge go down. Will never do it again!!!!

i dont know exactly. i usually cruise anywehre from 60 to 70. i know i can go alot faster if i roll down the window and turn up the radio (so i cant hear) and keep my eyes OFF the tach. (so i dont get scared) then i can go almost faster than anyone on the road.

No matter what you do, you are going to loose some of the overdrive you get with larger tires. 4.56's will probably get you back close to stock, and will still give you a little bit of overdrive.

right after I did a spring over I had a set of 35s and stock gearing...

I did 80 for a few hours across alligator alley more than a couple times....

Now I am re-geared a hair below stock and I cruise about 55mph on the highway...should be an extra long trip to tellico this year.

Haven't pushed mine above 65. Why bother?

We all have somewhere to get now!! Plus people in chicago dont like to wait. Usually I have to take off before the red light turns green (if im first in line) just to keep people from passing me from the right side.

85 in a 45

Does anybody remember seeing that original ad for the FJ45 wagon that CLAIMS, in print, that it can cruise at 85 mph?
