Top end rebuild or just get a remanufactured 5.7?

Looks like my rebuild cost will be anywhere from $6-10K, depending on whether I machine the heads or get new.

Or I can get a completely remanufactured engine with 3 years of warranty for $6500-is, with $5K labor to get it all exchanged out.

Seems like that may be my best best?

I'll agree, because I'd be skeptical about...
The quality of the parts, and the care/attention to detail in the workmanship.
The only rebuild I'd trust is the one that I do.

SImply put, you don't know the quality of a reman (parts or build quality) It will never be as good as a new engine from the factory.

If miles are not too high, the top end rebuild may be a viable option.

I concur on used factory over reman. Too many unknowns in the latter.

One of few things I really hate about Toyota lack of brand new crate engines from Toyota built by Toyota. However they seemed to have broke that mold with that new v6 turbo thing in the Tundra.
