Are there any opinions out there about the quality of the torque wrenches and various tools that Harbor Freight sells?

most are inexpensive enough that if you break - no problem - you can usually buy multiples at HF for what you pay for name brand.

So I guess I should spend a little more and try and find a better torque wrench.

Okay so any recommendations on an inexpensive quality torque wrench.

Harbor Freight. Rome was built with cheaper tools

Well for 10.00 I may take a chance.

I love HF (see also: hump it when i see it)... most of my tools have orange handles. If i was a pro, then maybe something else, but for weekend warrior types it does the job.

I've had very mixed luck with HF torque wrenches. We have torque calibration tools at work, so I've been able to test all of mine. My 1/2" clicker type is within 2%, as good as any of our Snap-On torque wrenches. However I bought a 3/8" and 1/4", and both were off by over 20%, reading lower than actual! I returned them to the store and tried to impress on the manager that it was a bad idea to re-stock them, and then watched an employee put them right back on the shelf. If I didn't have a way to check them I wouldn't truest them, even 20% off is plenty enough to break critical bolts.

Craftsman, SK are worth looking at.
