Tools for Lift Installation (rent, buy, borrow?)

I went ahead and ordered the ICON Stage 1 for my FJC today. They still don't have brackets to relocate the swaybar on the 2010s yet, so I'll have to run without the swaybar. I figured I'd rather do that though than not have the lift and tires in time for the Jamboree.

Anyway, if it gets shipped to me this week I'm going to attempt the install myself this weekend *gulp*!

So my question to you guys is this. Does anyone have any of the following tools they'd be willing to loan out, and/or where would be a good place to rent or purchase the following...

• Two jack stands
• Two floor jacks
• Pneumatic impact wrench (I have a pretty good compressor already)
• Torque wrench (up to 125 ft. lbs.)

I'm willing to purchase any or all of the tools if they're at a good price.

The impact and torque wrench will not really be necessary just convenient. With suspension stuff you just torque the hell out of it.

COOL!!! Harbor Freights has all of that stuff and a good price. i'm sure if you buy some beer, some volunteers may show up.

Something I have run into using the floor jacks. If you borrow/buy one, make sure it has enough lift height to get your truck of the ground. What I mean is, and this is where I get a little worried with mine is, that once you get your lift on, the suspension will be hanging closer to the floor, which means when you put the bigger tires on, you will need to jack the truck up even further off the ground (and off the jack stands) for them to go on. In my case, I have to use a couple of blocks on the jack to raise the truck up high enough to not only put the tires on, but to take it off the jack. The next dilemma will be, once you have the blocks on the jack under the truck and you lower the jack, the truck sitting on all it's weight may be too close to the floor to get the jack and blocks out from under it, which means, more blocks under the tires before you let it down so you can get you jack and stands out from under it, then drive the truck off the blocks... Just an observation, but it will also depend on where you place the jack, I go under the axles then put jacks stands under the frame..... But I have '40's and no IFS

Yepper!! the one is still on jack stands!!!! I bought a tub from Edwin and wound up "cutting" the wrecked one off after I salvaged a couple of pieces that I need on my red one. Man, even though the old tub was wrecked and really rusted out, it still kicked and screemed before it came off...even using the torch!!! Tell ya' more about it at the party.

Well, so far it looks like mission accomplished. I'll know for sure after I've driven it a few days and see if anything falls off!

I ended up buying all the tools. Whoops! The way I see it though, the amount I spent on tools is still a heck of a lot less than what I would have paid to have the lift installed. Plus, I know a lot more about my vehicle now.

And for the record, it was cold as BALLS in my garage when I was doing all this, especially at 2:00 in the morning.

With suspension parts, unless its a bushing or something soft, just torque them as much as possible and you will be good.
