After a few months of searching the internet for a 200 I finally found one at the right price point, mileage, condition, and color. I purchased the vehicle site unseen. At the beginning of the buying process, I demanded that the dealership take the vehicle to an independent Toyota mechanic of my choosing, and I paid for a full inspection. The mechanic reported that the 200 was in great condition. So I pulled the trigger. The dealership was less than pleasant to deal with. I think the fact that I am located thousands of miles away made it easy for them to not provide me with the best customer service. I felt like I really had to work to buy this car. After many, many hours on the phone, the deal finally went through, and I had it shipped to a friends house in VA.
I'm super excited. It arrived yesterday very dirty and salty from the northern winter storms it was transported through, but it arrived in one piece. The truck transporting my 200 did not fare too well and broke an axle in my friends neighborhood. My friend is going to clean my 200 today.
As you guys can see, it is a little "blinged" out, and was totally used as a "show off" ride or "grocery getter". Fortunately the carfax was clean, and it has a complete service history. I have big plans, but the build will not start until February. My friends at Rocky Top Customz in Knoxville will be doing the build. The goal is to prepare the truck for life in Mauritania. I'm not overlanding across the continent but will stay in one city for the majority of my time.
Step one is to remove the god awful stick on chrome accents. It came with WeatherTech floor mats throughout, and some 510 PIAA lights (not sure about these). I was able to secure 5, 17" RWs going to go with KO2s. Ultimately, I plan 17" RW with KO2s, front and rear bumpers (not sure brands yet), rock sliders VPR, OME suspension, ARB compressor, seat covers, interior LED upgrade, upgraded off road lights. It came with 2 halogen PIAAs. I'm not sure if I should stick with these or go with some other option.
