I know the 37s would fit, more a question of the wheels since they were 15s!

Got my new fender on today.

Yeah, I own an FJC. Plus a 40 and an 80. Did I mention my FJC still averages 20 mpg with the mods? I think the skid plating helped on the highway as it smoothed out the bottom.

The worst on the West trip was 12.5 for 65 miles off road in Moab. Got just over 24 on the run down from Salt Lake City to Moab while an 80 owner was shocked to get 17. I had several tanks at 21 and most 18-20. The worst was fighting wind and elevation, boy the wind does blow out there at times! I had some tanks at 16-17, not good. Carrying all that gear and my cards for the show really had an affect. I haven't calculated the whole trip yet, but I'm guessing it was just about 18-19 overall. Weight is the killer, dropping 500 pounds would add another mile per gallon.

FYI, octane ratings in the West are mostly lower than in the East. 85 octane is regular and 87 is plus and 89 is premium. Hard to find 91. Regular is sometimes alcohol free :)

I'm putting the 33+'s on the FJC this week. Will see how that affects mileage after correction for the circumferance.

BTW, my Cooper snow tires performed flawlessly on the trip. They worked great at Moab and in the desert, encountering mud and snow, plus they show little wear after 8K on this trip. I ran them at 38 pounds on the highway with the heavy load I was carrying, 30 in the desert with the same loading and 20 at Moab unloaded. I'd recommend them as a great all around winter tire for a DD or as an alternative to an all terrain year round.

Pulled my stock bumper off the FJC today and started installing the Metal Tech tube bumper I bought from KrazyFJ. Thus far, I have the winch mount installed and will install the bumper tomorrow. Without the winch mount, the bumper only adds 19 pounds over stock. The winch mount is about 20 pounds and a winch maybe 60-75. My adjustable coiliovers on the front will probably be hsppier with a bit more weight, I'm figuring 100-125 pounds more than stock once I add a winch. The Warn and ARB bumpers weigh that without a winch.

I'll be having the 33"+ BFG KM 285/55/16's installed tomorrow. Should I go letters out or in?

I went letters out and now wish i had gone letters in

Finally finished my rear bumper today and gave the 60 a good once over for this weekend nothing like waiting till the last min, Now that its roadable again hoping to put drive it some more, hard to believe put it gets better mpg than my work truck.

Dave, I think it looked better fenderless!

Very sad

Spent most of the day putting the 40 back together after tearing it apart
in the dead of winter. Never actually did much of what I had planned to do.
Put the windshield back on and looked at my inspection sticker from August
of last year. Mileage then was 71210, todays mileage is 71222. Twelve
miles since last year, I need to get out more. : (

I finally went letters out, the retro look. I wish now I had popped for the new white spoke wheels to go with them, but I've already spent just over $3K on the mods and tires. I still want to do something about the rear bumper, although that Ricochet rear bumper skidplate did its job yesterday as did the rest of their "underarmor". held up well on yesterday's run. Money's tight after the mods and trip out west, so I'll just have to get by wheeling it as is for now.

OK so what do you get when you mix a stock 1974 driveshaft with 37 pitbull rockers?

maybe a rock or two!!

Yea, I have a few that look like that. Only spare parts I carry are 2 of those.

Rockers are sick, I need more motor or gears to spin em though, ya a spare would be smart!!!!! Next time
