It finally happened. The Yeti Wagon is officially sold.
Good news it is staying in the club as Jeremy's friend and future ONSC member drove it home today.
Bad news is i'm going to be crying into my pillow for a few days ;)

Ole girl new what was going on and threw a fit this week and refused to start and idle worth a damn one day (FPD screw had backed out a bit) and then chucked the alternator in the last few which I had to rush and replace today)

So today we had a long talk and had a beer from the built in beer opener that ended in a hug

Then we spiritually shared a coke with this guy

Since it was Logan's talks via mud years ago that convinced me to buy the cruiser in the first place it was only fitting.

Never thought i'd sell it after 9 years of ownership. Andrea and I have loved the hell out of it and it has never let us down or stranded anywhere we've taken it. From the beaches, mountains and desert trip of LA to all the trips we enjoyed out here with ONSC.

Never ever thought i'd sell this truck but life gets in the way. $$$ is needed to finish doing housing projects so we can put it on the market and sell. The economy hit us hard and getting laid off really wiped out all our savings that we are still trying to recover from and we don't have any $$$ to put into her and it isn't fair her just sitting there to be used to drive to the local meetings once in a while. I haven't really wheeled her in 2 years when I went up daniel the last time. There is also the strong possibility that we will be moving to the PNW later in the year. There is a strong possibility that a appraisal trainee or assistant job will open up at one of the firms i've been talking to out there, something i've not been able find in the Charlotte area in 2 years of searching. Its a great opportunity for us to blank the slate and start again with much higher future earning potential opportunities. Andrea has also found a few jobs out there that she wants to start over in child care again as a consultant. She can't take the buerocracy of her current job any more. Anywho that's for another thread down the line. But with all that moving and changes going on I needed to also get something that can tow a trailer with our core stuff across the country at a later date. I found something for less than 1/6th what I sold the cruiser for and it will serve as our camping rig for awhile also.

I'm not done with land cruisers at all just taking a step back for a bit. If we do end up in seattle there will be great opportunities of a diesel cruiser making it our way via canada.

i'll still be very much involved in ONSC (as much as I can ) while i'm still here and then remotely like others that have left if I do move.

Some old pics from the sale add when I found it

Al. I am sorry but you will get a new cruiser when time is right.

I could find thepart that you were looking for. I was working 12 hr days all last week.

Nice memorial post, wish I'd done the same when I sold our FJC. You'll find love again buddy, more importantly is getting your lives settled, nothing worse than that.

Yet, sorry for your loss (so to speak), truth be told, I've not fully recovered from selling the FJC. You can drive our 80 anytime you need to get that feeling again.

Party on dude...

Man, I'm really sorry for the circumstances that forced you in to this position, but I'm excited to hear about what the future holds for you! Mark couldn't stop talking about all of the work he wants to put in to the Yeti Wagon. He was in search of a well-built wheeling monster that he could tinker with. You did right by him and set him up for success, he knows it, and that's the legacy that you leave with the old girl.

Andrea seems very excited at the prospect of a diesel 80. We'll keep posting pictures of the Yeti Wagon to keep you pumped up about your next project. Thanks for the fun times yesterday and for the delicious beer! I look forward to hanging out again soon.

It truly is amazing that these steel, rubber, etc parts come together and create a soul - and how difficult it is to let go. You did right by that 80, Al, so many awesome memories..........

Sorry that you had to sell the truck, but glad it's staying in the family :D

It sucks for sure (but life goes on in the end).... took it wheeling for one last time in the really rutted out power line trails by my house that stretch for miles and miles.

Yes I do have permission to drive on them before anyone says anything. They had a few utility trucks get stuck on them a few years back and I pulled them out. They flagged me down as they were getting picked up when I was driving by on the main road and asked if I could help them the next day when they return. I said only if I get a letter stating I can drive the trails on that day. The next day they returned with a letter from Duke power saying I could but it didn't have a date on it so i've kept it in the cruiser ever since. Since it isn't dated its an open invitation and it has held up as police cruiser stopped me one time coming out of them and when I showed him the letter he just said carry on and left. :)

That's why i'm able to drive into them when it snows and get some good pics

I didn't get many pics but did convince andrea to get a few gifs for me when we came back out of the muddy areas

Then we washed her.

Jeremy, Mark, Eric Forrest and I then went to Greenville SC for an UC meeting and for Jeremy to drop of his 40 at Marshalls.

Got a GIF of the cruiser driving away :crybaby:

Joe is right. While rebounding from selling the 40 I bought 2 rigs to fill the void. I still miss my 40.

Whos the Luck Owner?
