after several months of this project, I am too the point of actually seeing the light. I have had different suggestions on painting aluminum. everything under the hood is going to look great except the valve cover, intake, and thermostat housing. Water pump is new.

is there a paint that will hold up long term on those aluminum parts? i have cleaned as much as i can but can't get them to look new. have also been advised not to sandblast the intake any suggestions?

Matt - how's CO? wish your 60 was close. i am getting nearer to the point of needing to figure out how this pile of parts on the floor will go back on. I didn't take one picture. been printing lots of parts breakdowns and taking pics off the forum to print. might have to take the laptop to the shop to see stuff.

i don't think i will go that crazy on different colors. all i'm trying to find out is will the paint on those aluminum parts hold up over time to the temperature differences, and NOT peel or flake. i don't want to be blasting or repainting a year or so because it looks bad.

I have seen some rocker covers and Tstat housing pics that looked as if they were powder coated??I have thought about doing that??on my 3b

I'm starting to think what I should do with mine........ (hint: polished turd :flipoff2:)

There was a photo posted a while ago by someone who had polished their valve cover with steel wool. It looked great; don't know how long it would last before it oxidized again. Sorry that I can't retrieve it.

so after 10 posts and 80-something views...... can the aluminum parts be painted with standard ceramic engine paint and have it hold up over time, not flaking, cracking, etc........
