I wish the TLCA and/or their webmaster would respond to emails :frown:

It's taken 3 years to convince my club to apply for sanctioning of our event CMCC - yet the darn TLCA site still have info going back to 2003. We can't even get them to put the right dates.

No offense to anyone, I love the TLCA, but the website is a disaster. Why even have the events up at all if you're going to have the dates wrong, contact info wrong etc?

Have emailed the webmaster via the email addy on their site and get SQUAT for response. Is this typical or is it just something against my club (Gotham City Land Cruisers)? :ban:

I agree with Junk 100%. The TLCA website is outdated and not useful. Instead of showcasing a vibrant organization of Cruiserheads with lots of events, it makes us look like we havn't done anything new in years. Thank goodness Toyota Trails is such a nice mag or the TLCA would loose it's identity entirely. Both of the last 2 TLCA presidents have said the website is a "top" priority and I hope something will happen.

Here's a thought though: IH8MUD has become the defacto TLCA website. Most of the rabid Cruiserheads are here, all the events are here. Maybe Woody and the TLCA could come to an agreement.

I agree...but the new e-commerce site looks nice and I think Liz has done nice job with it. With what little information I have, I can say that Chef and the BoD are working to get the site updated and that delays seem to be more working out current hosting issues.

I wouldn't mind seeing Woody making some TLCA money for hosting the site...but I have no idea how all stuff works.

After seeing Woody's ad in trails I wonder if there will be a www.ih8mud2.com for the "Cruiser Widows". Maybe C can start a support group forum for our significant others :grinpimp:

Hey Gang;
I know the website sucks. Which is why I ran on a platform that included a new one. Which is nearly done;) I don't know why the webmaster is not responding to your inquiries, please post the email address you used here, and I will investigate immediately. In the meantime, please send any corrections to event dates, or anything else you want updated to Nick Stone, Stone.Nick@epamail.epa.gov, and he will deal with our web contractor directly. Normally I can get responses from her within just a few hours, so I feel like there is probably an email alias misdirected somewhere.
I'm terribly sorry for your problem, and believe me when I say the new site is going to be much, much better. Hopefully most of it will be on line in June, with bigger more complicated sections like the tlca forum, classifieds, reader's rigs, trail reports, etc hitting in july or august.
Junk, (or anyone), please feel free to contact me anytime to register complaints. My office door and phone lines are always open. Info's in the front of every Toyota Trails. We accept compliments too;)

I agree with Chef and want to add something else.
The reason you didn't get a response from the webmaster was simply that the TLCA site didn't point email to her. As mentioned in previous posts, TLCA is completely building a new & improved site. Don't expect the old site to be updated or even working right.

Please remember that only our webmaster gets paid. Chef and I do all of this in our spare time. If any of you guys want to donate your time to help us out, please conatct me and I'll start a list for moderators, etc.

I wish I could just snap my fingers and the new site would be up... but, it doesn't work that way. Liz is doing a great job and our new site will require tweaks and minor mods as we get it started. You know, kinda like IH8MUD when it first started. ;-) Woody has been great to TLCA and all of us really appreciate his time and expertise. Don't look for the TLCA site to replace IH8MUD.

Happy Trails! N

Guys, thanks for the quick response to my gripe about the website and specifically about our event being listed incorrectly.

Hopefully I didn't come across too hard (although I frequently do), but this was quite frustrating. I feel like I've let the club down by not having accurate information on our event reflected on the site. I will make sure Nick gets our info although I'm surprised it's not already known since we had to prepare a budget and submit info on the event.

I do understand all about the volunteer thing. I've been running our local club for over the last year, moderate here on Ih8mud, mod on the Lcool lists etc. So yes, I get it. I'm surprised though that if the webmaster is a paid position that it takes so long - not griping about it as I'm sure her work needs committee review etc. but just surprised.

Guys, we do appreciate your work, and we appreciate folks like Tony who also worked hard long hours to support the organization we love. Hope you can appreciate our need to speak up though when we feel it necessary.

Thanks again for the quick response.

BTW, if anyone is still reading this thread :flipoff2: ....

been swapping emails with Alan and Nick and they are making sure we get taken care of (no evil laugh inserted here).

Thanks for the help guys.

Junk, it is not her full time job and when she bid on the project, she bid damn low in my opinion as she and her husband are TLCA members and avid Cruiserheads.

She has a "real" job and this is just one of many, many., many project she has going.

She gave us a timeline and she is well on track. Transfering ownership from Birfield to TLCA was a tad rough and set us back about a month.

Nick and Liz are on it.

While we are in the subject, have you noticed that the TLC logo on t-shirts showing an 100 series says underneath it FZJ80?
It's pretty sad that TLCA would print shirts with such typo. Maybe these shirts will become collector's items in the future, but they should not be sold on the website as FZJ80 shirts when they are not.

Alvaro

Note to all:
Just as in the deal with Vintage advertising in TT, and some of ya getting upset cause TT did not drop the ads immediatly, (he had a contract)
There are things that go on behind the scenes politics etc. that the BOD handle and do it without us knowing all the details, trust me when I tell ya' it is getting done ASAP.
Butch

Butch is right on with this. it is really easy to be pissed off and complain but much harder to fix the problem. I have been on the other side of this sort of thing before!

It would be different if Chef et al were not doing a damn thing. The truth is a bunch of people are busting ass, in most cases for free, to get this organization up to the standards we all expect.

I know a little bit about the issues with the current site and a lot about the webqueen in charge. Trust me, she is not ducking anyone and does some of the best work available.

Talk to your buddy Twiddy about that one ;)

They are freebies! Been meaning to get one myself :D

Nolen, Butch and Dave (wow, what a gnarly bunch),
That's exactly why I posted up my follow up messages. Alan, Nick and group are gittin it dun.

Actually, my griping publicly requires me to set the record straight when they respond. They both have done everything I could ask for.

Junk; thanks for posting a followup.

My office door is always open to anyone with gripes, that's what I'm here for. It ain't "Chef's TLCA,'', it's "Y'all's TLCA."

I'm just an elected steward trying to herd cats down a narrow path...which believe it or not is pretty do-able with the crew we've got on the board of directors right now. Who are all volunteers, and damn nice people.

Whilst the old and antiquated tlca.org languishes semi-peacefully, a new and better tlca.org is being built. You can see our new secure e-store at
https://www.tlca.org/catalog
and the new website should go on line enxt month sometime, with some of the tricker bits coming in July, hopefully. Big project, long timeline, but our webmaster is doing a pretty good job of staying on the schedule we agreed on, given some small startup errors on my part.
