You got it Fireman

"mag and the event insurance seem to ME to be the only tangible benefits of membership. "

I agree with you. we also need to work on Member business benefits as well.. Mark has hit a nail on the head. I forsee and will help guide towards Chapter benefits, and member business benefits as well.. and keeping it a car club.. IH8 Politics :)
and I do agree.. a TLCA/Ih8mud relationship would be mutually beneficial if enhanced..
the businesses that support the hobby need to see a return on investment. without them we would not have our hobby.

Seems really strange to see all this stuff in our lil' forum. :meh:

To me there is no value at all in Toyota Trails ... and even less in the questionable insurance coverage. The only value is the events. And at this point, the events are sustainable with or without TLCA.

Carry on.

Yup. Woody even gave us an emoticon appropriate for this:

Oh yea, publicly want to say more NEEDS to be done for IH8mud from TLCA.

WHY you ask..... he provides TLCA a place to discuss, vent, and openly organize TLCA trail rides...... now as always suggest a idea offer a resolve:idea:

Maybe a Full/Half/.25 page add in trails for FREE(every issue).....
If this is being done-GREAT! If not, as always..... just a suggestion.:meh:

'MUD used to have a business card ad in Trails...I chose to remove it about the same time FJCruiserForums and TTORA started advertising. Being an 'internet media' business, I felt the space taken by 'MUD in Trails was better utilized by a physical business with actual products. Chris Hatfield has offered continually to place a new ad, and I've chosen not to. He has also offered to re-activate the banner ad that was running on TLCA.org, and I have again opted not to.

As for MUD / TLCA, I think it is safe to say that MUD doesn't need TLCA nearly as much as TLCA needs MUD! I think Woody knows how much we appreciate him but it would be nice to see the org show same openly and often!!! Thanks Woodrow!!!

My pleasure :) I'd like to think I don't do much, but I've talked with the owner of CJ-8.com recently to help with his site plans and have come to the realization I put in WAY more time than many others do. Guess that explains why the 40 is the POS it is...haha

...based on this here comment, Woody gets 2 docens of tamales next time I see him.:hillbilly:

I wondered why I liked you...now I know...

Yep, I'm planning on supporting IH8MUD as soon as the votes are cast.
TLCA is going to be a simple car club. My only priority is keeping Toyota Trails.

Trails is a good priority...I know some are frustrated with it, but there are opportunities there that are un-tapped. However, it's a tough market right now, and print media is on a severe downswing...despite that, many still succeed.

IMO, TLCA.org has turned into a 'content country club' where I need a magic handshake in order to play thru. TLCA would be much better served making this information public and better utilizing banner advertising to generate revenues, direct AND contextual. I know someone with experience in this category...

I've got many friends in TLCA after more than 20 years, but there are definitely a few vocal detractors. Based on my conversations with BOD friends and my 'in the know' on some of the inner happenings, TLCA has been working to separate itself from IH8MUD.

I wish the new and returning BOD the best of luck in making TLCA an organization that people want to be a part of :)

It is clear to me that TLCA can not exist without IH8MUD.
Woody has been VERY generous to TLCA and he deserves kudos and thanks to the max.
TLCA has always been a herd of cats. The TLCA website has never been anyone's first site. It's only a place you go for more info or pictures. That's fine, I want to open TLCA.org to everyone and fill it with pictures and stories. IH8MUD and TTORA are the forum sites where folks gather.

My two cents,
Nick

Jeff Zepp has removed his name from consideration for a second term as Pres of TLCA. We thank Jeff for his service and respect his decision.

To the best of my understanding that leaves Justin Ward running unopposed for Pres, AVP is still a race between Jon Sourbeer and Nick Stone, Jeff Murrah is now unopposed for MSVP as are Perry Lowrey for MCIR, Chuck Atkins for EIR, and Casey Campbell for Treasurer. That is all.

I have won every election I have been in, and in several instances 3-way. The significance is, unlike other members of our board, I have never run uncontested. I have always been challenged.

You will never lose if you bow out...Jeff's record remains unbroken.

I pulled an Alan Loshbaugh moment and quit arguing with Jeff. FYI, while serving under Tony and Alan, Jeff was re-elected Central & Mountain IR unopposed.

Lots o' drama in that election thread... but nothing worth re-telling.

Now, let's get a 12 pack or two of our favorite beverage and get back to what this club is all about.
Happy Trails! N

Big thanks to all of you.
The election will happen on December 16th. Daryl deserves lots of kudos because listening to TLCA monthly calls is similar to watching paint dry.

The meeting this week will be pretty boring. I've got some Shiner and I'll be in the hot tub maintaining our high standards while the other folks pick nits.

LOL
Happy Trails! N[/QUO
Shiner, hows about some Bourbon with a little diet pepsi:popcorn:

Good luck to all running, I only met Casey and he is quite a nice cruiser head....

Quite a interesting job, something to do with NASCARS, quite the stories he told Nick and me. Sounds like folks get right into that sport, maybe a little to much some times...;)

Yeah, lots of money and beer at NASCAR races.
Basically, running around in circles with beer, boobs, and BBQ.

Happy Trails! N

Update- Jon Sourbeer has removed his name for consideration. All positions are now running unopposed. Congrats Nick- be careful what you wish for.... You just might get it :)
