Whoa!!! Big bucks for a collector rig. That is what they are starting to be. Meecum Auctions in Orlando sold a moderate FJ40 restoration in the blink of an eye for $18,000 two weeks ago. But unless you want to sit around with geezers in lawn chairs at car shows, not much point. IMHO

"needs work but ran well when last parked"

That is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

Cam, this one is for you. Time to touch up those welding skills. In Sooke even. Go pull it out of the bush with your cummins.

Yanks are mad for JDM cruisers right now! It is pretty crazy. There is another Prado on Ebay for $25kUSD right now. Dreamers.

its not just JDM though! every cruisers is marked up beyond belief! the only resonably priced cruiser was a HJ47 Troopy that needs some work for $3500 in Kelso Washington

Yeah, I think I'm going to sell my hj61. It's not really the truck I want, so I may as well...trouble is , ICBC kindly gave it a BC Applied Vin when it was imported back in 04 ish, because that's just how they did things before 05...so that may complicate things for a US buyer.

I'll have to talk to an expert on the whole exporting thing about the vin thing before I list it, because those Nazi bastards at the border scare the s*** outta me.

I threw plates back on the celica/ go kart so I can give the big bitch some lovin.

That truck should be able to fetch some pretty decent coin down there if you can figure it out. Definitely the time to do it, especially with the exchange rate. Even I've been tempted...but my truck is starting to look a little tired. Too bad about the VIN stuff with yours. Man, that truck has been in Canada a long time....

I know what you mean about the border guys...I avoid the US period for just that reason. Nothing to hide, I just don't like how much power they have at their discretion.

Yep. I had a border guard in port townsend scream at me. (literally, turn purple and scream. Flying spit, whole deal) because I was interrupting his family barbecue.

It was a Tuesday. I wasn't aware the US was closed that day. :bang: A few americans who witnessed it came over and apologized to me afterwards. Was pretty fxxxed up. I hadn't done a damn thing wrong.

Haven't been back since. Don't need that.

But yeah, I'll have to figure it out, there are jdm's down there with bc applied vins, so it's doable, but chances are I'll have to be involved in the process, and explain things 300 times, so best I get my head around the paperwork.

^^^Don't you worry about it. It is entirely up to the buyer to deal with importing. Tell prospective buyer to
hire a broker and shipper. Importing into US requires an enormous amount of paperwork and an inspection.
But again, it is their concern, not yours. Explain carefully, inform them to do due diligence on their own behalf
and take their money. You have no responsibility concerning the export of the vehicle.

Sure, all of that is technically true. BUT.....

I guarantee that I'll receive dozens of emails asking " can I import this into the states?"

Regardless of how well I explain things in the ad, nobody reads the text in ads.

I'm not planning on holding their hands through the process, just get a basic gyst of what they need so I can have an outline cut and pasted into my form letter response....

And if it isn't possible for them, then I'll tell them no.
I'd rather not get a weepy phone call about seizures at the border.

Border = Unknown situation
Hand holding = Requirement
Seizure Phone Call - Possible
Customs Broker = Painless

Remember, till that vehicle makes It to the other side it is you exporting and not him/her importing. You are the one on the hook holding the bag if s*** goes sideways. Your phone will ring and you will receive the bill regardless of who's 'name' it's in.

Think I'll insist on option 4 if it comes to that....

Nobody likes it when...

Rusty 45 has a price now. Pretty fair really, even just for the parts. I'm tempted, but don't want to rust stain my concrete...haha. Someone should go look at it.

$1,000 · '76 1 Ton Land Cruiser w 10,000 lb. winch

$1,000 · '76 1 Ton Land Cruiser w 10,000 lb. winch

I know it's so tempting... it's in similar shape to our beige 45. Needs a lot of love poured in but it's got potential. 45's deserve to be saved

I emailed the guy to see if he would part with the winch..... he said sure $800! :bang:
