A bit bigger than just a truck, but looks like Maximum Overdrive is for sale, again...

-has valid ICBC salvage license to bid on-line and rebuild cars.

I remember this guy from some past action here on MUD in the JDM section some years ago. I also looked at where he preped his spotless vehicles. Nothing like doing body work in the rain and filling holes and dents with bondo.

He also seems to imply that one can legally rebuild ICBC salvage JDMs. Now it would not surprise me if he has been doing this but I am pretty sure that ICBC still is not legally allowing JDMs to be rebuilt after a right-off. But if you got a friend who will send you new vins from Japan and another friend who won't look for a stamp on the frame, anything is possible.

$9000? with no warranty, no returns, just an acceptance of condition and supposed milage? Which it is stated to be in miles, so that's oddly 140,000km on the dot, and it's out of an automatic as well. Am I the only one who thinks that's a bit much?

It's America and they can't get our trucks without chopping them up.

I could see someone buying it, but most smart guys will find a HDJ81 and sell the leftover parts off and at least you have everything for a conversion for the most part

The island guys posted this up, it's an FJ40 converted into a 45, if I saw that when I was looking for a daily driver I likely would have picked it up....depending on condition. It is on the island.

emailed him, out of curiosity, and it is an FJ40, that was cut after the cab, has a 4Runner frame, modified and welded to the FJ40 frame (hence the longer wheel distance), apparently done by a ticketed welder. It has new sheet metal for the floors and angle iron for the rockers. A 2F and a 4 speed.
The front cowl/rad support, along with fenders and above fenders is not original.
It might be a good truck but I'm done with other people's projects personally.

Here is the exact reply:
"it was an fj 40
all the major rust was removed
we built new cab corners, replaced most of the floor
I can take some closer pics of the inside if you want
the metal strip on the bottom is 2 inch by 1/4 inch angle iron welded to the body, built in rockslider, just in case
all original drivetrain with 2f engine
this truck has never given me any problems, always fires right up and runs great, but does burn a little bit of oil
the frame has been cut underneath the cab and the back half of an 87 4runner has been narrowed and mated to the landcruiser frame. the welding was done by a ticketed welder
the truck does need the tie rods done soon and will probably need a new master and slave cylinder for the clutch
but nothing major"

too expensive to run on fuel in Canada

John's worst nightmare, a LC with a Datsoooon 510 top
