Tires too small: problem? (1 Viewer)

as mentioned elsewhere, this 100 my wife just got has tires that are a tad small (P265/70R16). The difference in revs per mile is small, only about 2% difference. Now, this is not enough to create trouble with the VSC, Trac control, ECU etc is it?

(Btw, they certified the car. Any chance they should have put on correct size tires? <G>)

My tires are bigger than stock, and I have not noticed any problems with the electronic traction stuff (1999 model).

As long as the are all reletively the same size there won't be any problems. It's when one or more are different, then both the mechanical and electronic systems see the different rotation speeds as wheel slip.

sorry folks, this 100 is a refined instrument of great sophistication with fine corinthian leather and heated rear view mirrors!
You don't really think we would take it in dusty places, especially where the great unwashed masses congregate, now would you? sheesh! arumph!

uhh ok, then why buy THE ULTIMATE in offroad vehicles (all cruisers, not just 100's) if you don't want to get it dusty? or you could wrap it in plastic

You make an interesting question on the tires. Find someone with a stock set of 100 tires on it and read the load rating in pounds. Then check those on your rig. If yours are lower load rated, then you actually have an issue the dealership should correct at their cost - particularly since its a certified Toyota.

He mentioned in the first post why he can't get it dirty. it's his wife's.

I bought my 80 for my wife on her birthday. Two months later she was driving my pick up. Shortly thereafter the LC began sporting trail stripes and broken lenses.
