I just put 285s on two night ago. Love the difference from stock. Really fills in the gap.

Yeah just basic sanding, primer, and a few coats of black paint. I did it with them mounted on the truck too. Just masked everything off.

I did that at least 3 years ago so its been holding up well.
 
I've never been a wikked big tire fan. I run 255/85/16 (33.5") w/ 3" lift and 4:88 gearz. Soulda/coulda gone with one range lower for central american hills... Its a very nice set up for both road and off road. But, no doubt the "go big or go home" guys are wincing from reading this....
