Thank you for all the info......the truck is stock no lift was just concerned about rubbing its been really hard to find tires so thought I would see if there were different size options to give me a better chance of finding something.
The 265's recommended won't rub. They look slightly larger than stock but not much, just perfect IMO. Also much less expensive than the oddball stock size.

265/75x16 BFG AT's work great on my stock set up, no rub.

No, it has to do with who's behind the counter.

I rolled in with my LC for a new set of 285/75-16's and they told me they wouldn't fit.

I asked him to step outside with me for a moment.............
My dad rolled into a Toyota DEALERSHIP in his FJ40 once, since it was the only place open (he was driving back to AZ from MN for a work gig) and they told hiom "We don't service Jeeps here"...He pointed to the "TOYOTA" on the grill and they told him, in no uncertain terms, that what he was driving was a Land Cruiser.

It took him finding the old guy tech to come out and make fun of the "dumb salesman" who "didn't know his ass from a hole in the wall"

:D

I did 285/75/16 which works fine with stock suspension, although there is a slight noticeable decrease in acceleration due to the taller equivalent gearing.

Sticking a little closer to stock may be preferable, couldn't get these tires installed at Costco or Discount Tire which would have been my preference due to service/warranty. They both refused to go beyond 5% increase in overall diameter, and 285/75/16 is a little over that.
If you had a 2 or 3" lift would those places have agreed to do it?
