I just bought a 97 lx-450, bone stock. I am going to put a 3.5" OME J lift on and 315/75R16 toyo mt's on it.

My ? is this, can those tires fit for normal street driving w/o installing the lift?

Reason I ask, the stock tires are almost gone, so I need to replace them anyway. I will have the lift on within a couple weeks and gears also.

searched, but did not turn much up.

thanks in advance.

Depending on the brand, you will be fine for careful street driving. Nitto A/T's only major rub spot is the rear fender wells, tire sidewall to the inside flat section of the fender well when flexed. It won't stop progress or hurt the tire, just check clearances when you get them, be careful with the bumps and you will be fine, for temporary street driving.

315's look good on a stocker!:D

Well, that pic is encouraging!:bounce:

I was able to fit my 315/75 Goodyear Wrangler MTR's before I did my lift. Daily driving was not a problem and I even towed my tent trailer camping with gear and only bottomed out a little on the highway;).

It can be done. I even wheeled with a guy who had this setup. Needless to say, he had to be strapped through a few obstacles (read as: Dragged through). I think he had Toyo's or Cooper's. Can't recall.

wheres cody??? i thought he ran 315's a while before his J's came in.

Around Prescott, the main mod is 315's. Most 80's are still mom's. Dad's contribution is to put tires on so he can use it on trails. The 315's work fine except for a bit of rub as Kevin said. There is no harm done.

Wheels play a large part in whether or not a tire will rub. When you guys say your truck rubs or doesn't rub with a certain tire you should also tell:
1. wheel measurements
2. any spacers
3. brand of tire
4. if the truck is a stock early 80 w/o the flares

Without that information everyone is just guessing.

VERY GOOD POINT! Wheel sizing and back spacing make all the difference in the world!

Stock rims, no spacers or anything on 95 80. 2 or 2.5 ome medium lift. 305/70 bfg at. Never rub, not ever, not even when the damn thing is so flexed that its just about to roll over. Just get the 305 and quit worring about it.
