hello all.
I'm running 37" KM IIs, which came with truck from the PO. They run acceptable on the road but:
1) they're expensive tires to wear down around town
2) i figure an AT type tire in 35" will improve gas mileage (rolling resistance and less weight).
3) i figure the 35" AT will provide better road (highway) handling for destination trips when the 37's won't be needed (ie: to the beach when we'll see sand not rock gardens)
4) my snowchains will fit a 35" as well, confirmed by vendor, so other than gearing being reduced a bit, i'm not seeing any downsides.
So, i'm looking at the "35X12.5R17 D Dick Cepek Radial F-C II" (my LC is running on 17" Tundra/Sequoia rims) -- in addition to the KM IIs on my righ, the PO included five 37" worn-out BFG ATko's, all i really wanted was the same 17" Sequoia/Tundra rims they were mounted on - so I'm thinking:
1) take older tires to shop have them remove and dispose of the well worn BFG ATkos tires, use rims to mount new tires
2) swap new tires/rims and place KM IIs (still on their rims) into LC, so i'll have 2 sets, the 35" ATs and 37" MTs.
So, "trick trucks" is listed as a Dick Cepek dealer. Their online reviews are pretty hot/cold though. Am I better off just getting the tires from an online dealer and using a local tire place I've used for my 'usual' tirework? Or is there any benefit to using a shop that happens to carry the line, and anyone here have any experience with "tricktrucks.com"
thanks!
