Can some one help/provide some info on tire sizes?
Example: 285/70-17 is equal to what in height? 33" ?
I'm looking to put 33" tires on my 07' Taco.

its like a 33x11 or something like that.

Thanks for the input so far, and I saw the pop up "Tire Size Calculator". I need one more Barley Pop, and I will check it out. The big question is, some mfgr's advertize a tire at say 35" and it will really measure out to 34.275" and they round up. I'm looking at a 3" lift on the Taco w/33" BFG's in the KM2 MUD tire,as they seem to be good on the rocks(KOTHmmrs), and have decient road manners.

duane, that is the exact kind of chart/conversion i was looking for-Thanks, i just need afew more sizes for 17" rims.

i have a 3 inch lift on my 3rd gen runner and after i beat the pinch weld in had no problem with 33x12.5 swampers if that helps.

you can also run 35s on a 3 inch lift if you tub out the firewall which i am about to do to my runner. its a little work but you get to keep a nice low center of gravity. on my taco i just put the axle abuot 6 inches foward and cut the hell out of the fenders so that i can run 38s on 6 inches of lift :)

Sounds like you have it set up. I'm alittle cautious about stuff like that w/a new truck, still making payments, and it being a daily driver. How much suspension travel did you end up with the 35's ?

285 is the width of the tire in mm.

70 is the aspect ratio of the sidewall to the width.

And 17 is the rims size in inches.

So multiply the width by the aspect ratio (285 x 70%, in this case)

Then multiply that by 2 (since when you measure the height, there are two sidewalls that go into the measurement)

Then convert to inches. 1mm = 0.0393700787 inches.

Add 17".

Hey Cackalak, from one Kanuck to another ---thanks. I'll take that into advisement. I found out that the tire I was looking for is 32.8" tall. A BFG KM2 @ 285/70--17. I knew there was a metric conversion, but did not know how it worked, thanks again----eehhhh.

Here is a link to the BFG KM2's

looks like 3 17" rim tire options for a 33" or less tire.
LT245/70R17/E 119/116Q RWL 99340 6.5 - 8 9.8 on 7 30.8
LT285/70R17/D 121/118Q RWL 36575 7.5 - 9 11.5 on 8.5 33
LT305/65R17/E 121/118Q RWL 34424 8.5 - 11 12.2 on 9 32.8

Not sure what rim width your Taco rims are but the 305's are likely too wide.. the 245s are a 31" tire...
