Having a 200 series LC, I know the Michelin Defender is a top choice for the 200 series (normal driving). My 24 LX600 now has 30K miles and the OE tires probably have less than 5-10K miles left. I drive on the highway a lot so quietness is a top concern, but being in Oklahoma, some snow and ice can be encountered in the winter.
I have the 20" wheels. Is there a particular tire that you guys are gravitating towards?

I also put the Defenders on my 600.

Defenders, Continental HT, and Yokohama g015 have been good to me on different makes and models.

And another vote for Michelin defender LTX/MS2's. Quiet, confident, good in the rain, snow, dry, reasonable on ice, and not terrible off road.

Moved to 18" OE Rims and Continental terrain contact in oe size. Very quiet and cheaper then the Michelins. Time will tell if they will last. Previous vehicle had the ltx at2 e tires and they were like brand new even after 45k miles....but the steering weight was too much.
Old Review on ht tires here

Have you played with the tire comparison charts on TireRack .com? If you havent it could show you an alternate to the Mich Defender, although of course Defender has the highest points on the reviews. For on-road and some light trails all season and quietness, Defender got my vote too and theyre all I use on my HE and 4Rnr . My friend swears on the Contis

The reviews are mixed on the Conti HT vs Defender. I agree, read them because they perform differently in different scenarios. Example you may like the numb steering of one tire because of how the car already performs etc, or you may want that little extra off road traction (although these do well already with highway tires).

I considered the Conti HT on my 600 because it has a rounder tamer sidewall. Personal preference as I already have 5 other trucks/suvs with ATs.

I have looked at the TireRack reviews etc. but I trust the people here more than TireRack. I have decided on Defenders for the 600. I was happy with them on 18" wheels on my 570 (I kept the wheels and tires when I traded in the 570 for the 600 and wish they would fit the 600. Someday I will probably get around to putting them on my LC).

Run the 285/55/20. Its 32.4” tall according to tire rack. Stock 22s are 32.5 or 32.6 depending on what site you look at.

My 285s are 32.3 and look good. I have pics on here floating around. Speedometer is fine, less than 1mph off at freeway speeds.

in case anyone needs to buy TPMS sensors for another set of wheels, they are on sale. part number is different for 700H f sport and is 42607-0E130

Do you have any issues with rubbing?

No. But I am not wheeling hard.

I will say a 9.5” wide wheel with +30 offset and the 285 tire is close to the edge of the fender. A 10 inch would work but thats pushing it.

I like the idea of a tire that is a bit larger and I may go with 285's when I get new tires. I am assuming that the 285s would work on the stock 20" wheels without issues in normal use (non off-road)

Discount tire would NOT mount a 285/45/22 on my stock spare wheel because 8 inches is too skinny.

But I looked it up and a 285/55/20 can be good down to a 7.5 inch wheel. Thats personally the tire I would run with a 20” wheel.

I am not a serious offroader, but do need to get off road for work and ranch duty. If you are, the 275 widths offer some taller sidewalls that are reasonable height and weight. In 18, 20, and 22 inch wheels.

I agree with the tire store. Actually if look up on Google it will say the widest tire u can place on 8 inch wide rims are 255. This is just stupid from Toyota. Wasted money on a wheel that is too narrow. Will be getting vossens 20 x 9.5. Spend another 3500 or so now.

According to Michelin you can run the 285/55/20 on a 7.5 inch rim so the stock rims are GTG.

Probably a really good combo.

I do love my Vossens though 😜

If you have 22s the 275/50/22 Continental HT is only around .2-3” taller than stock but almost .5 wider. Thats as wide as you can go on the 22.
