Yeah, I know I'm asking a bunch of s*** all at once but, I'm trying to cover all my bases here. I am considering purchasing two sets of tires for my LC. Here's what I'm thinking of doing. Let me know if you think this will work right. Keep in mind I am going to lift the vehicle soon.

I am considering adding 285x75 BFG AT's to my current wheels as daily driver tires. I love these tires and they have served me well in the past with good wear and mileage while giving a smooth ride. Will this tire look too small once the LC is lifted on an OME lift? Does anyone have pics of an OME lifted 100 with 285x75's on it?

The second set of tires will be for off-roading. I live in KY and there is way too much mud on the trails for an AT to get the job done. I am going to get a set of BFG MT's in the 295-305 range. I also need to find a set of good rims for off-roading. Do you have any suggestions on where to get wheels? Are there certain brands that are avaibable for the 100 yet? Anyone have any off-road experience with these yet? I prefer steel rims, but will consider alloy if they are strong. Also, do the factory rims hold up well? I would also consider sourcing a set of factory wheels if they will hold up to the abuse. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

The BFG at's would be great for around town or light/med wheeling. Revo AT's would be better for daily driver duties, or why not the Michelin LTX MS that came stock?

As for MT's, I would personally prefer a better MT than the BFG, one with a more durable sidewall. Seen a few BFG sidewalls fail on the trail, just think they are a compromise. Especially if you can have a dedicated off road set, treadwear is less of an issue.

I've been dying to try these:

2 million threads on tires and wheels out there....
go in "advanced search" put in "steel wheel" or "tire fit", choose 100 forum and go for it...

So, just to clarify, I went in to Search, entered steel wheels. I read the threads that came up and it looks like the only option is factory alloys. From what I gather from these threads, the only way to get steel wheels is to import them from Australia? Man, that sucks! So, I guess I'll start watching Ebay for a second set of factory alloys.

there is a company in Central California someplace, forgot the name that does custom steel wheels, but seems like that would cost more than used alloys.
Yes, steel wheels are not readily available in 18", 17" may be a tad easier but I had no luck when I looked it up. Don't see your truck year (add it to your sig!) but IIRC the older 16" may be easier to come by if they would fit yours. (Don't recall exactly but think that the early 100s came with 16s although that could have been with only 5 lugs...?)

Oh, and talk to CDan, he may have some OEM ones, unlikely as that may be...

Sorry, I haven't set up a sig line yet. I have a 2001 LC with 16 inch alloys now. I'll shoot CDan an email. Calamaridog, please keep us posted on what you find out.

OEM rims are on ebay all the time- as little as $200.00 per set plus shipping- not bad IMO.

Also, on this thread, one of my original questions was did anyone have 285x75's on an OME lifted 100? I searched this a lot and see lots of discussion but no pics. I'm curious to see if these look too small with an OME. Anybody got a pic of the side of their 100 where I can see this lift and tire combo?

fj100 has one, i think.

Ok, here is the message I sent:

<Dear Sir or Madam,

Myself and several of my fellow American owners of the 1998-present Toyota Landcruiser have a sum total of zero steel wheel options for our vehicles. Several of my friends and I are wondering about the possibility of having steel wheels manufactured for our application. Possibly the Explorer 72 style.

The wheel information is as follows:

The 16" OEM wheels are J16x8JJ60 with 5x150mm lug pattern.

Is this possible? What quantity would consitute a minumum order and how much $$$ per unit. We have several vendors who may be willing to stock these items or we could put together a group buy depending upon costs.

Thank You sincerely for your time,

Regards, Bryan Cox>
