Hey - I'm going to be selling my triple locked 80 in Colorado after I do some clean up. It needs tires before I put it on the market. I have 4:56 gears in it and an OME 2-3" lift and de-flared and is fully armored, including swing out. Would you as a buyer prefer a set of five 285/75/16 or 315/75/16? It currently has 255/85/16s, but most people don't seem to like skinnies, and they are significantly more expensive than the larger sizes. I'm going with ATs or hybrids.
Thanks for your input!

315’s look perfect on a lifted 80 especially since you already have gears and a swing out to hang a full size spare that eliminates the 2 biggest Challenges.

285’s are too small with a lift in my opinion, however for others considering a happy medium for a slightly lifted truck with stock gearing and a desire to keep the spare underneath, 295/75/16’s are an excellent compromise.

I ran 295 BFG KO2’s on a 3.5” lifted truck (until they were discontinued) and it performed great. I recently added a set of 295 KO3’s to a very low mileage 40th anniversary with new OEM stock springs and Slee spacers and it is great for a stockish 80 series.

Oh yeah! I forgot 295s. Looks like a few different manufacturers have them now. Nice 80!

I think there are a few others now, glad to see the 16” wheel support, hope it continues!

Thanks, it gets driven very little and each year I debate whether or not to sell it, but each time I drive it it’s like traveling back in time 20-25 years when I first started my 80 Series Love and 59k mile triple locked 80’s weren’t uncommon so I just park it and drive one of the more well used ones!

Saw your Vols reference. I used to work at UT. I first drove an 80 in Knoxville in 1999 or so. My wife still works out of Oak Ridge. I wish I would have bought it then! Bought a 94 pickup instead.

Yep, graduated in 91’, very cool, great area, I have seen lots of changes, most for the good!

Ha! I can see why you bought the pick up, most Cruisers were still soccer mom mobiles in 99’!

I changed my opinion in 97’ or so when a customer of mine lifted, added BFG MT’s, and painted his leased Desert Dune Collector’s Edition triple locked 80 in an Urban Camo pattern, because his Duck hunting buddies kept teasing him about driving his wife’s car!

It was the most BadA$$ thing I couldn’t afford so I settled for a 4Runner until I finally bought an 80 a few years later and it has hands down been the most favorite vehicle I have owned.

Deflared, armored, swingout= 315's
They will look perfect

315s but I'd let the new owner buy his own tires and sell it cheaper.
I thought that too, but the potential new owner might think it needs a bearing or something...tires are flat spotted. they're 12 years old or so.

About to put on some 285/75/16s myself. A good friend of mine lives off Hardin Valley road. We have wheeled my 80 at wind rock numerous times. Heading to GSMTR this year as well.

35s it is! Thanks all, for your input!
