Hello seem to have a issue with a tire pressure warning system; the system is working but have a tire going down with a slow leak. Traced it to the actual stem; can I replace the stem without removing tire? any ideas on the part number? thanks also do all 4 have to be replaced in order for signal to work?

I purchased tpms 'rebuild kits' from Toyota. Be careful when you take the old ones off, as they break easily... I broke 3 off on my wife's Rav4. The stem is held captive by the sensor on the inside of the rim by only the plastic housing, and it breaks easily.

I ended up just replacing the broken ones with standard rubber stems. Her low pressure warning light is now constantly on. A piece of electrical tape took care of that.

Btw, I believe the rebuild kit contains a new rubber o-ring, a new valve core, and a new stem cap. That was for an 07 Rav 4, which I know is the same for the new highlander. The LC kit is probably the same.

The TPS sensors are fairly easy to break away from their mount on the inner stem, but the sensor itself is not damaged if this happens. Its fairly simple to reattach the sensor to the stem with quick JBWeld. Just be careful not to cover the hole in the valve stem. Tire must be off the rim for this of course.

ah i kinda figured you have to take tire off:crybaby: this will have to wait then but now let me get this straight the 1 stem can be replaced? this kit you got was it a set of 4? thanks any info on reprograming?? anyone ever do this at home? obviously if I have to remove tire i have to go to a shop but just wanted to have the reprograming instructions handy thanks
