Parked my 40 the other day and noticed some wear on my tires. Is this dangerous to be driving around on? Noticed it only after the recent weeks of heat and humidity.

How old are they? Look pretty new, take them back to place of purchase and ask for new ones.

Toss the tyres - how old are they? Park in the sun a lot for months/years at a time?

If not old, then as ^ go and see if you can work a deal to replace them.

I wouldn't drive them at speed. I presume your 40 can get above 50mph?? :)

cheers,
george.

That doesn't look like a heat failure but like an actual carcass failure. That's not a crack I'd drive around on and I've driven on cracked tires.

Thanks for the input gentlemen. My buddy had them laying around before a move and offered them to me this past spring. They're about 4 years old from the code on the sidewall. By carcass failure are you referring to the structural integrity? Dont the tires have wire reinforcements beneath this section. I thought cracks in the sidewall are what you have to be most concerned about.

And george, as a matter of fact it can hit 65 mph if I get her to yell loud enough! But I definitely won't be doing any driving until I get this sorted out

4 years old? I'd just drive 'em. Check them out though as you get some miles on them. The carcass is the thing protecting the plys. If the carcass goes then the plys hit the road and they don't last long on pavement.

My BFG's did that almost immediately.

Same vintage as yours (about 4 years old). I just drive on them...

Yeah well the other tires are all good, so I'll keep riding on these while paying close attention to the size of the cracks.

I'm only going from my house to the beach anyway :D

Hopefully inflating and deflating the tires doesn't agitate the cracks.
