So early bird gets the worm. I missed out on bronze SCS F5s by a week (ordered matte gunmetal instead) and now no one has KO2s in 285/75-17 until Feb. My GX460 lift is installed (3" Dobinsons MRR) and the wheels are 17x8.5 SCS F5s. I'm looking for a good All Terrain daily driver but also has some bite and sidewall grip. I've had KO2s on three different trucks and liked them and am still considering doing 34/10.5 or 35/12.5.

What are you guys running and would you recommend them?

Jason

I swear by the BFG's. I've had them on the last 4 vehicles, both the A/T's and M/T's, from 33" up to 37" and they all quiet and wear for a very long time with very good trail abilities.
Yes there are better trail tires, abut they are either very noisy or don't last long on the road.
Yes there are better tires for noise and long mileage, but won't be as good on the trail.
Just go with the KO2's...

My 2 cents from personal experience.

Do you live in the south, warm weather or north ??
Lots of trips off road or mostly street ride and with an occasional gravel, forestry road ?

I use my truck mostly on the road and in a cold climate half of the year.
I have two sets of tires that I switch on and off based on season.
Ko2 315/70/17 Load D designed for the Raptor in summer,
Yokohama G015 -285/75/17 LT in winter.
I keep them both, at 35 psi all year around.

On the highway Yokohama wins hands down. Quieter, and get 2 extra MPG no matter the speed I drive. Yokohama are about 5 lbs lighter and about 1" narrower and this helps.
On country roads Yokohama have a much better sideways stability on wet snow , ice and flexes less from the sidewall. I attribute this to the Yokohama been an LT tire.
Yokohama give a better feel on twisty roads, where the KO2 feel balloon and a little excessive sidewall flex.
Comfort wise in straight line and big bumps, I will, narrowly , give it to the KO2. Been a D load helps.
Deep snow straight line the KO2 perform better. They clean better and keep biting.
I anticipate that in deep mud the KO2 will perform better based on the pattern but I have no experience with

After about 20 ks on each set , the Yokohama looks almost like new and they are taking less then 5 ounce to balance.
The Kos looks really beaten up and the guys have a hard time to balance them.

As you can see is all about where and how you drive. For my driving, mostly highway, small roads, snow and ice, I consider the Yokohama to be a much better choice.

Good luck with your decision

Thanks for the feedback. I took the shops advice and blindly ordered the Toyo AT2s in 285/75R17. I've only gotten it on the road for a test run, but my initial impression is they are smoother and quieter than the KO2s I've had and the tread pattern should lend a little more grab on light trails. We will see...

Congrats and enjoy them. Definitively a worthy tire.
I just wish the manufacturers would come up with more C or D load tires. most of the people that buys these tires are people with Jeeps, Tacomas , 4Runners. Would make for a nicer ride, I think.

Completely agree. I had C load KO2s on my JKUR and it was night and day from the E load KO2s on my Taco TRD PRO and wife's 200.

Great tires! Smooth and quiet in the road, great off-road and super tough sidewalls. Only down side is they are a little heavy but not bad.

I just got some GT AT2s and I have been very happy with them. I got them on black Friday from discount tire for around $650 out the door. On a separate note I have been very happy with my gunmetal SCS wheels!

hows the finish holding up? those are my go-to when i pick up some new wheels

Had two sets of Firestone Destination ATs; one on the '97 FJ80 and another on the 2000 FJ100. Also tried the Goodyear Duratracs later in the FJ100.
The Firestone ATs were way better in all respects. New Denstination ATs are going on the FJ150.

I have the Cooper A/TW tire in 265/70-18. These weren't my first choice. I had a flat in Colorado and needed tires anyway, and this is what the shop had in stock that fit. Cooper Discoverer A/TW | Cooper Tire

Pros: the tires are relatively quiet, very durable, great snow traction (this is the Winter version of their AT tire), good handling on dry roads. Cons: they've been hard to balance. The GX has been known to be sensitive to improperly balanced tires. I still have some vibrations at 65 with these tires, but I have yet to get a lug-centric balance.
