This was my first time using Sketchup but I think yall can get the idea. This seems like it would be easy to fab up with some 1 inch square tube. The footman loops on the side would have a ratchet strap run under the tire and connect on the other side. Just an idea for a cheap jerry can carrier for those of us who dont have roof racks.
Why not just go with a set up like Spector ( I think?), mounts to the lug nuts holding spare on? I ran one for while on my first 40 worked just my . 02 cents a lot of work for just 5 gal ? Think about it again make it hold two cans I think it would have more appeal and you'll be happier in the long run

Id love to get one like that but no one has them in stock at the moment. And cant find it on SOR, if you know the page # on their site let me know. 2 Cans would be easy to throw on there but not sure if the 40 carrier can hold the weight. My thinking on this is the least amount of fabing needed to carry a can. Cant think of too many ways to bring fuel on a stock 40 without drilling holes or making big changes in the vehicle.
And in my case all this will be done in an apartment parking lot with a grinder w/cutting wheel a drill and a 50 ft extension cord.
How about this: add extentions to each end of the rectangle that hangs on the tire. Hang a can off each side and run a strap around the whole thing. It would look much like saddle bags.
