Tire carrier hinge bushing alternate found (1 Viewer)

For those looking to replace the hinge bushing on the early style spare tire carrier, I found something that appears to work. I ordered sleeve bearings from Mcmaster-Carr part # 7815k36 5/8 shaft, 3/4 housing. Some quick work with the dremel honing the inside and they fit perfectly on the pin. They appear that they will fit well into the hinge.

I wonder if you could drill and tap the hinge for a grease fitting And use the McMaster bushings. Would it be almost as good as the CR kit?
