I am looking at buying a 1994 Land Cruiser with over 110,000 miles. I am new to the whole Land Cruiser thing so i need to know at what mileage they need their timing belts changed. I would assume somewhere between 90 and 100,000 miles but i would like to be certain. This Land Cruiser has not had the timing belt changed and i would like to know how much it generally costs to have it changed.

you don't need to change the timing belt that you don't have.

your cruiser has a timing chain. no need to replace (under most situations).

1st year of a timing belt in a Land Cruiser is 1998 in the UZJ100

YUP, mine will be getting a new t-belt, tensioners(becuase I got a killer deal on new OEM) and water pump at 90K. So yes its true unless my FSM is wrong or my parts guy lied to me :D

but remember, untill 93 all gas cruiser had no chain, just a gear :)

I've heard/read the same somewhere as I was researching what year model to buy. Was happy to find my '96 didn't have the 'belt' like my '95 Monty used to have. Cost big coin every time I had to change the belt.
