tie rods...oem

are they drilled iwth a taper

i just put in all pro hysteer (bought for 100 at the swap meet ) and now my tie rod is too long...figured, no big deal, i will just cut the rod down, but after taking 1 inch off, i try threading the rod in and the slit cut into the rod is spreading as if the hole is tapered...it does not appear to be however.

well if it doesnt work out for ya i believe marlin can make any size tie rod or drag link for 59 bucks, that and its 1/4 wall...

I doubt it's a tapered thread. I would bet there is a pile of rust and mud in the threads that's causing what you're seeing. Or you've found the end of the threaded section of the rod and need to tap the threads deeper.
