Tie-rod question

I noticed today on my '97 LX450 that my passenger side tie rod is not sitting flat against the steering arm, it seems to be twisted with a 1/4" gap on one side. Is this normal?

If you grab the rod and twist it you will find that it pivots. The tire rod end is a ball socket and it needs to be able to move.

Normal.

Slop however (if it moves up and down) is not normal.

Mine does the same. I'm also interested to know if this is ok/normal.
