Does this sucker definately have to be replaced when I pull the TB to clean ? Or can I leave it be if I'm careful removing the TB and then pay close attn to torque specs when replacing it?

No it doesn't definitely have to be replaced. It's a thin metal type gasket. I've removed my TB a few times and have not seen the need to replace it yet.

Yep you don't need to remove TB to clean 'em :D .I use this stuff all the time not only for carbon deposits and oil build up in the TB and intake but under and around the engine if you have any oil/trans/powersteering fluid that's dripped from somewhere.Carb cleaner or TB cleaner in a spray can all work great.Just make sure it's O2 safe, usually printed on the label.Just grab the no name stuff. Also remember make sure NOT to get it on painted surfaces or leave it on rubber hoses etc... IT WILL ruin them.
P.S: The only one thing i need to remove TB to get it bigger bore. Are you trying to search more POWER T? :flipoff2:

TYLER , Aren't you an advocate of the "search" function here? C'mon man :flipoff2:

Actually no .. I'm not a search nazi :flipoff2:

I was wandering the isles in the Canadian Tire and they want $90 for a torque wrench. WTF? I was really hoping they'd have a poser version .. works 10 times and self destructs .. for like .45 cents or sumpin.

Maybe I'll just crank on it and break s*** like I did when I was re-installing my brakes

Searched .. can't find torque specs on the TB bolts.

Suppose I can rent one .. TW that is

hmm , your FSM tells you they are 15 foot lbs :D

the crappy tire"professional" torque wrench (long model) is decent. At least as good as the craftsman. it occasionally goes on sale for 79.99 but 99.99 is what they cost. just buy it. you need it.

and yes you can get several removals out of the gasket but I would order one as prt of your next dan order as a spare.

Don't bother with the torque wrench, and re-use the gasket unless you completely bugger it.

Check the three small vac ports for flow with compressed air etc, one of mine was (still is) clogged. 150 PSI didn't get it.

Man, I just don't get why all you guys reuse gaskets. It doesn't save all that much cash, and a new gasket will ALWAYS give a better seal. Why risk a vacuum leak and having to take the TB back off again?

If you don't have one on hand, I am not advocating that you rush down to the stealer to buy one, but if there is one on the shelf, install it!

My 2 cents.

because the chances are very slim there will be any kind of problem reusing it.

No one is recommending it, it is just an option.

I replaced my gasket, however, I would not hesistate to reuse one.
