On my 02 landcruiser, i just cleaned my throttle body, after i was done the rpm is now at 1,100.
Will it go back down after the computer compensates for the extra air coming in from the clean throttle body? or do i have to lower my idle?
If i must lower the idle screw, where is it located? Thanks in advance.

If i disconnect my battery for 10 minutes, then reconnect it. Will that help with the ECU recognizing the correct idle speed?

Thanks in advance to anyones help and answers.

it will reset it, along with everything else. It still has to learn either way...patience grasshopper.

I just did the same job last week and noticed the rpms being really high. I just went for a drive and let it get used to the new airflow-went back to normal very soon after.

I clean mine about once every year. Just did it this weekend and realized it's been 30K since I did it last a little over a year ago! Lots of windshield time! It was actually dirtier than I expected and I feel a nice improvement in lowend of the line...probably just my imagination? :steer:

Did you guys clean in place or did you remove it? What is best?

I just did one in place, it’s very easy to reach just be sure to wipe the dirt/carbon out of the TB with a nice shop rag.

the first start is ugly, and may take a couple tries to really get it running. I went through this about 3 weeks ago. My cruiser sat for a couple months and it developed a problem where it wouldn’t hold idle, idle would just fall further and further until it stalled. So at stoplights I had to put it in neutral and keep my foot on the gas. If I gave it gas it would stay running and ran 100% fine. My first thought was TB and sure enough it was caked. It has been about 25k miles since I did it last, but those were all pretty hard miles.
