Long time since I have visited any ih8mud forum.

I remain curious as to the necessity of closing threads that are critical. Constructive criticism is beneficial. The thought that dissention or discord is bad to an organization is incorrect.

I stopped making daily visits to this forum when it continued to throttle open expression of ideas. It appears that little has changed. I bought stars for years and even gave them as gifts. That is unlikely to be repeated.

I bought a Volvo XC70.

I will stay logged in to view the Volvo commercials and gear ads. Hopefully there will be no more targeted Kia and Jeep ads on a site dedicated to Toyota LandCruisers and Toyota's other 4WD vehicles.

I have changed my sig line elsewhere to 'walked with dinosaurs'. I need help in doing that here also, in case I come back.

I fail to see where rehashing something over and over when there is no possible resolution achieves anything. The initial thread topic was covered, taken to various tangents, and knowing there is zero chance of any explanation offered being accepted, I chose to close the topic.

It is a primary premise of forums that things are rehashed endlessly with the thought of reaching an accomodation, resolution or compromise. Stopping that free flow of user opinions by intervention and closing a thread, plus deleting posts in that thread that are not complimentary is certainly your prerogative. Is there any place on this forum now where unfettered and uncensored posting is allowed and or encouraged?

If there were, then you could stop having to feel like you must ride shotgun all the time.

semlin brought up excellent points, as did others. To just drop the guillotine on an open discussion leaves me with the thought if there might not be a better way to handle this kind of thing. Certainly, I know it is one you have had to deal with over the years. Things do not have to esculate into adversarial confrontation.

I hope you do not feel this is so redundant that the thread should be closed. Although, it might be in a better location on the forum if a more appropriate one did exist.

Can I still PM if I have not bought a star? I seem to recall some limits on members who had not bought stars although I think that was on # of emails.

I don't know the new rules. You have my email, correct? From my registration in 2004... I migrated to ih8mud when I grew tired of all the slamming on Pirate.

At least it was not a chipped plate!

I am just using an iPad in my old age and holding down on your Avatar and info does not appear to work in ios Chrome to bring up PM or email options so I guess I will have to navigate through my settings to my email or just use my user name @hotmail.com and fire me off an email.
