I just got a new (to me) FJ62, and I suppose in a perfect encapsulation of my life with vintage Toyota vehicles, it's currently half disassembled in my driveway. This thing has clearly had people wrenching on it before, people that forget to put all the screws back in when they take the dash apart, and people who favor JB weld over ordering a new part. I'm fixing the issues one by one, and I've uncovered things
1. Driver's side power window doesn't work. Ok, I found a forum post about this and I was ready and willing to dig into the switch box with some contact cleaner, clean and lube the track, and put it back together... well I found a 2 after market 30A relays spliced into the harness, and for some reason the window motor had a GM weatherpack style connector instead of the Toyota style. The switch box was a thing of beauty, no blackness on the contacts, still had dialectic grease on the spring pins... I put it back together and magically the windows (and door lock now) started working. Grand. Any thoughts on what those two autozone style 30A relays are doing spliced into the driver's door harness?
2. Head lights - I haven't really started down the road on what is going on here, the sealed beams are currently installed and they work in the factory 2 beams on low, 4 on high configuration... but again, there are aftermarket 30A relays spliced into the harness right next to outer headlight harness plugs, and for some reason the factory wired headlight connectors are just hanging out behind the headlights, unconnected, with new wiring and new plugs connected to the sealed beams.
3. Rear washer bag panel - Again, just a cursory exploration, but there are more 30A aftermarket relays (4 of them) spliced into the harness below the rear washer bag.
The truck has old man emu suspension, a H55 swap... dollars to donuts it's a forum member here. I'm extra hopeful I can find the original owner who did the mods (It's a Blue 1988 with black corbeau seats, grey interior) but in the mean time do you all have any ideas on what all these relays would be for, and what might have been done to a truck like this?
I am having an issue with the ignition, I have a parts (or even parts number and place to buy) request here:

I've got a new (to me) FJ62, and I discovered while driving it on the highway that it likes to lock the steering (slightly) when ever the wheel is dead straight. Terrifying. I could kind of wrench the wheel off whichever side was locking, and it would release and give me back steering, but that...
