It looks pretty clean to me...seems to have all the right parts in the right places...couple of flags to take into consideration. I noticed the ‘snake blinders’ are missing from the rockers. Might want to investigate how the holes were filled, and if it was a result of rocker damage. Also noticed the odd placement of the light (or antenna mount) on the drivers rear quarter. What’s up with that?
Looks like it has had the suspension refreshed using OME components, which is a plus, saving you $2k down the road.
I’d also note that looking for a month might not be long enough. Took me 2 years to find the right 40 series. I basically have this exact 60 and I wouldn’t sell it for less than $15k so I don’t think the price is that unreasonable. At a certain point you might find one for closer to $10k, but then you’ll find yourself adding things and spending on PM, at which point you’ll realize you’ve exceeded your original budget (unless you turn the blinders on like most of us here).
Any time I buy a vehicle at or above this price, especially at a distance or at a dealer, I would spring for a full independent inspection, including a compression test. Most of the time it’s aboit $150, which is a small fraction of the purchase price (1% in your case). It’s a small price to pay for piece of mind.
Go drive the thing, tell them you wanted the original wheels. When they say they don’t have them, offer them $13k and see what happens. If it’s been for sale for a while, tread with caution.
You mentioned these vehicles getting snatched up...what most don’t realize is the best ones almost never make it to the classifieds section. Folks hunt them down in advance and they change hands via private messages and behind the scenes, without being published to the public in any form, sort of like a secret cruiser market.
