I'm currently looking through the options for rear bumpers and the Dobinson's does not seem to come up much. Is there a reason why this bumper isn't very popular? Any members who are running this bumper?

Having seen it in person, my $0.02 is that it's not very attractive. While the idea of a full replacement and no cutting sounds nice I think it looks weird when you see it. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder though I suppose

They do take a beating. I watched the Dobinson's truck drag that bumper up Heart Attack Hill and down the technical section on the other side of the Chutes when we did Kelly Flats.

The one downside I noticed about their bumper was that it isn't high clearance. It still hangs as low as your factory bumper.

I took mine off a few months ago and went back with the factory bumper. I thought it was ugly and took away from the look of the truck. I tried to make myself like it when I installed it but it never happened.

Looks like the bumper looks better painted body color. I have to agree, the looks are different, but the the price point is sure tempting

I’ve emailed RLC fab with some questions on their bumper. Torn between the two. I mainly use the 200 for moderate forest service roads. The main goal here is to get the spare out from under.

I was going to suggest RLC. Not too $$$, less weight since it doesn't have those huge metal sides, much more high clearance, and waaaay better looking (IMHO). Just saw this pic on dobinsons website, even body color i really am not a fan of that look. I get you don't have to cut the plastic (and I'm one who cut mine wrong), but all that metal on the side just looks odd and adds a ton of weight. ARB? Not a huge fan of the rear, not quite as inexpensive, but similar style without the big sides. Or, quite a few just go for a hitch mount tire if that's all your trying to achieve.

If all you want is the tire swingout, Toyota sells that overseas. Perhaps you could buy it from Australia or the middle east and have it shipped? That version mounts to (through?) the body in the corner so it still keeps the factory bumper

Also. I think Kaymar sells a tire only swing out.

Kaymar does in fact offer a left or right tire carrier that retains the OEM bumper. I think if your goal is to simply relocate your spare tire, it’s the best option IMO. Less than $1k too, IIRC. LRA is Kaymar’s US distributor:

As for the Dobinson’s rear bumper, @mep1811 has both their front and rear bumpers installed on his 200. He’s always on the road exploring with his LC, maybe he can chime in with some user feedback.

I believe the Kaymar tyre carrier for the stock bumper is not available in the US. A hitch mounted tire carrier might be a good option. I have not had any issues with my Dobinson's bumpers.

I'd be afraid of drilling holes into the body. If it's not too pricey that might be a decent option.

This is sweet! Too bad it's not available in the US. That looks like great option.

I've seen these online before but I can't recall where or find it now, of course. It might not be worthwhile, given what I read in this thread.

Where are you guys seeing that the Kaymar tire carrier is “not available in the US”? That may have been the case a few years ago, but LRA is now distributing their products in the CONUS. I checked LRA’s site and found this:

Looks like $795 + the ride? Tagging @wardharris for confirmation.

That's a big drawback to me. The rear bumper is the one thing I've damaged while offroad (coming down off a shelf on the way down from Imogene Pass).
