DT headers: Done
K&N FIPK Intake: Done

To complete the system I'm thinking it's time for a Cat back exhaust.

The only complete system I could find was Borla and you can get them for under $800 now.

Anyone have the Borla system? Do you like it? Are there other complete systems out there you prefer?

There will be a DT/Jardine cat back available as soon as I get off my a$$ and start the group buy thread. Nick at DT is willing to custom make an exhaust for the LC crowd.

If they do, please make sure it's tucked up tightly to the body, and not hanging down low like the Borla.

Be specific, include pics. Have a say so.... Help design it. I will pass it all along to Jamie and Nick at DT. I was thinking a flange near the rear axle and offer two options, stock outlet and some sort of modified for those with aftermarket rear bumpers..

magnaflow

After the DT headers I had a local shop install a Magnaflow and custom fabricate a new y pipe off the cats out of 2 1/2. Sounds great. No noise at highway speed. I retained the stock tailpipe and silencer but had him tuck it up higher..

justdifferentials - pics and costs? That sounds like a great idea. I don't think there's much power coming by way of full exhaust so just improving the clearance and maybe gaining a decibel of rumble would be nice.

What isnt specific about "make sure it's tucked up tightly to the body"? The Borla system hangs down lower than factory, and has interference issues with the Slee Skidplates. In addition to that clearance issue, the Borla system hangs quite low as compared to what an aftermarket system could. I just figured I'd mention that before the design process started so it would be appealing to everyone here, who takes their vehicle off the pavement and sometimes encounter rocks that might smash into it.

Hey Loud, I see you keep posting this. And I am trying to understand what exactly the interference is. Can you elaborate any more? I haave asked this question before but never had an answer. Looking at mine rig (and it is a LC not an LX so not sure if there is a difference in the exhaust), I have a flange after the CAT. But that CAT is further back then the Skid I have. Another variable is I have a BOIR skid system. A CAT back system should start at that flange which should be at or near the edge of either the Slee or other Skid system. So, what is it that you keep saying interferes? Or is this just something you have just been told by Slee?

the two pipes going into the muffler that connect to the crossover pipe and the PS cat bend down too far and you cant install the bellyplate.

I wasnt told by Slee, I was one of the first to realize it, since I had a stock Borla setup and have since cut and modified it to fit the bellyplate. I speak from experience, I know surprising right?

Not surprised.... Just trying to understand. You are the only one putting that information out. Thanks for clarifying! I will look at mine tomorrow to see if this make sense.

For me a CAT back system is very appealing because I can install it myself and save on a full custom system. At least in theory that is what I think. I have never priced a custom system before. I would have probably already ordered one by now but kept seeing your post saying there is an issue. Again thanks!

I had a complete system built and they did a pretty good job of keeping it tucked up out of the way:

If the pipe from the right bank were any closer to the tail end of the transfer box I'd have to remove it to get the transfer rear casing off to replace the seal, something to keep in mind when you're having it tucked up tight :)

Great job WildSmith!

Now sell me your globes and sensors!

I think that is the nicest exhaust system I have seen on a 100 series. I can only imagine how expensive it was to build to and install.

They did a good job, all tig welded and the mufflers are hand rolled / stuffed etc on site so they can make whatever you need. There were some teething problems getting the volume down to a level I was comfortable with but it came out just about perfect and the cost was very reasonable for the work Pro Speed put in.

What am I looking at here? Those cats don't look very stock.

Those are after market high flow 'sports' cats but the routing from the cats to the main muffler and how it's tucked up should still be relevant and show the area round the gearbox cross member that was being discussed above. The Pacemaker headers I had fitted terminate in larger than OEM pipes and are not a bolt in replacement because they also finish further back than the OEM headers so by the time the OEM cats would have been modified I might as well have the after market fitted instead :)

Here are some pics of the Slee belly plate, showing how close the stock exhaust is. Like Loud mentioned, if a new system is at same location, or tucked in closer, the belly plate is a non issue.
