What is everyone's opinion on putting LSD in front differential without converting to part-time? Am I delusional in thinking it wouldn't be that bad?

Why would you go with a LSD instead of a locker? It seems like a LSD might produce some unexpected driving characteristics in a full time 4wd if you're powering through a corner...

Mainly due to almost $800 to $1000 price cost up front over the lsd carrier.
I guess having driven a vehicle in the past that had mechanical lockers front and rear in harsh winter conditions, I feel that based on how LSD's work, I wouldn't have the harsh lock up and sudden 1' jump left or right that you can experience when driving in winter climates.

Just seeking some opinions I guess. Not that I don't want too put air lockers front and rear. But single family income restricts my budget with things.

What does a lsd carrier go for? Also, from what I've read (my experience is mostly in a fully locked 80) I think the A-TRAC is +/- the equivalent of a front lsd...

I'd like to hear other's opinions as well, especially about the A-TRAC mimicking a LSD.

The auburn gear one is less than $500.
I guess you could equate the action of the atrac similarly to an lsd but it relies on wheel speed sensors. I find it very effective even in it's early design on these vehicles except in heavy mud. From my interpretation the lsd would just make it that more effective, but not lock it fully. It would still allow different wheel speed. The center diff wouldn't be locked unless the button is depressed.
Primarily just to replace the stock carrier which from what I've researched is the primary cause for most of the differential failures.

would you install it or have it installed ? as the cost is only 1/2 the equation. I say if you can install it go for it and report back, I have not heard anyone doing it in a 100s. On the other side , I would keep saving $$ and do it once and do it right.
