If you going to be running the interstate the whole time, you will be twisting her kinda tight for 10 hours...

I am kind of in the same boat as you, but I am heading toward Watertown, NY (upstate), 13 hours, and thru the snowbelt. It will either be the 80 or the wifeys park avenue. Depends on the weather. The buick will get hell of alot better fuel mileage than the 80. Guess I will make that decision on Tuesday before heading up.

My 60 runs well but I personally would never think of taking the 60 up there (4 spd/interstate driving all the way) but guess I am just a big chicken guano...

I took my truck to Memphis and back no issues and knowing your truck with less than 1/4 of the miles mine has, i would not hesitate to drive it. grab some spare fluids and a set of belts and you will be fine. There are plenty of mudders on the way also so if you run into trouble you can always get help if it is something you cant fix o your own.

Have a good trip.

After burping the radiator it got when I put the heat on high- as soon as I took the heat down to one it went right back down. Both stock and aftermarket gauges read the same. Is it possible to put too much radiator fluid in?

Well I had the incline- just not the funnel. back to the drawing board. Is there a thread on making the funnell?
thanks for the help

I just ordered a lisle spill free radiator burp kit for 18.00 - So once it comes back on the hill with coolant and I will succeed this time.
thanks for the advice.

Keep over listening if this is the results you get.

The leak seems to be by the front of the manifold- I can feel the air coming out- but maybe I am crazy. I tend to overlisten for issues.

Are you sure the smog air injection pipe is not broke?

I would think you would have some dang sensitive hands to feel a vacuum leak at the manifold.

you know you are prob right. I dont have a smog pump anymore- would air injection pipe just be open then? It was a significant flow-

I do believe those little pipes go directly to the exhaust chamber.

Since you are De-Smogged, plug the air rail real good before you leave.

Ideally, you would pull the air rail and plug the threaded holes in the head with the pipe plugs. I don't know what your travel schedule is as far as a departure time. If your luck is like mine, I would allow 2 hours to do it start to finish. If the stars are aligned and thing go your way, it is less than an hour job.
