MARC: WHERE ARE YOU???

LOL...I'm here.
I have been busy with work and stuff. Posted some but haven't been able to be active. I do have news...

SOLD IT!

I mildly miss is, but it was the right decision for me and the family. I am sad and happy all at the same time. What helps is that I don't see any on the roads here in Canada so I don't have any memories pop up. I'm still gonna be around here on mud, and still gonna be checking in on the 200 series section as I love these rigs.

Guess I need to change my sig and avatar now.

So what did you get instead?

As an 80-series guy who is seeing into his future and wondering what vehicle may replace/supplement his 80, I'd like to see more first-hand comparisons of the 200-series and 5th gen 4Runner.

- Raw stats (diff and axle dimensions, etc.)
- Photos of the underside and of various components, etc.

The new 4Runner is the first truck in a while that looks really good even in stock form. First time I've been tempted to cheat on my Land Cruiser since I got it.

However, in 5 years or so, I might be able to swing a 2008 Cruiser...

I have both so if you want any specific information that I can *easily* attain, give me a list...

Eh, just really thinking about the "200-series is built better than the 4Runner" thing. Would kind of like to to see side-by-side photos of frames, links, drivetrain bits, etc. Nothing rigorous, just a crude visual comparison.

I ended up getting a Trail Edition in black. Already got ATX Mojave wheels with BFG ATs up a size. I also talked with Icon and ordered a full stage 4 suspension set up. Coilovers, UCAs, piggyback resevoir shocks for the rear with upgraded springs and trailing arms. Most of the 4th gen Icon stuff fits the 5th gen 4rnr. I won't see the sus for maybe a couple of weeks as Icon needed to make some things and brackets for the swaybar to drop.

The thought was to move away from a heavy expedition rig into a light and nimble desert racer type of rig. With my wife's diesel Q7, we didn't need the LC size anymore...by the way, the motor in the Q7 is AMAZING!!! I think we will love that thing for years of roadtripping. In fact, I would urge someone to do a engine swap and throw the VW TDI into an LC...that would be one hell of a rig.

Once I get the sus installed I'll post some pics...should be a fun ride.

Here are a couple of shots of it done. Not the best quality, in an even worse location, but you get the idea.
I ended up going with:

Stage 4 Icon Suspension
- front coilovers
- UCAs
- trailing arms
- rear piggyback shocks
- rear springs
275/70/17 BFG ATs on 17" x 8" Mojave ATX rims

Everything else is stock for now. The suspension upgrade makes a fun sportier rig even more so. It rides nice and stiff but buttery all the time. I'm pleased with the Icon product. They do a good job and it looks amazing.

and one next to a 100 series for comparison...
