My wife has decided that she would like to get into a newer GX. We currently have an 04 GX470 with 277k miles and still drives and runs as it should. Overall has been an amazing vehicle. The GX pulls tow duty for our 4,500lb boat on occasion (usually 2-3 times per year) when we go camping AND take the boat. So, because the GX has been so good to us over the years, and she really likes the vehicle, we're looking at a 2014-2016 GX. Are there any obvious, or less obvious, things I should be looking for as problem areas or maintenance items I should be certain were completed?

I just bought a 17 Gx460 with 40k on it for less than 30k. There are some really good deals on newer GX460's right now. Also Lexus IS offering bumper to bumper factory warranties for up to 50k additional miles for a few grand. Good luck on your hunt!

What years qualify for an extended bumper to bumper? I’ve got my eyes on a 2014 with 97k on it currently.

I did not ask but I would bet after 10 years in the industry that it is only on newer models. Ours is a 17 but that was the oldest they had. You may have to call a dealer to ask.

When I purchased mine, 1 2013 with 38k miles a couple of years ago, I looked through all the paperwork that came with it from the Lexus dealer I purchased it from and I couldn't find anything that would allow the warranty to transfer over.
Now at 60k miles and being 7 years old, it really didn't matter about the warranty!
Runs awesome! Never an issue!
