No powder coating that I can tell. I used a spray aircraft stripper stuff from Napa, 20mins later is pretty much what you see in the pic with a putty knife. Stuff pretty much just liquifies. Almost could just wipe it off with a rag. Im not concerned about the remaining paint that didnt come off. Just going to wire wheel the rusty spots, scuff/sand and primer then coat.

Ya great us for old box's ;) lol, and a ramped up my security system and camera's surronding the prerimeter! LOL, j/k.

EDIT: ya powder coating sucks to remove. The aircraft stripper stuff will eat through it, but takes a couple times, and is just nasty stuff. Wire brushing the "good" parts of the coating is futile. May see about having them sandblasted real quick.

Yep I want to be sure i know exactly were I dragged over a rock lol ;)

Nice score

Still waiting for parts from C-dan to get the power steering and smog pump done. Other then that, I didn't get anything done this weekend because I went fishing. Hopefully this week there will be progress.

Catch anything?

Horrible weather this weekend for fishing. Ask me how I know.

Ooh ya, we caught some good fish. We were fishing in a lake that used to be off limits to fishing before 1998. It was a Brood stock lake for Nevada. They crossed a Lahaton Cutthroat with a Rainbow and it becomes a CutBow. It is a great fighting trout. The majority of the fish were in the 15 to 18 inch range. No pictures because I practice catch and release and Its hard to get pictures when you are in a pontoon boat by yourself.

The weather on the other hand, was not normal for the Nevada desert. It rained the whole time pretty much. We almost got stuck on the way out, it was a wet weekend. When you are catching fish who cares.

Parts are here. Won't get to it until Friday, but I got work to get done this weekend.

Well tonight I got everything removed. Time to get some clean up done then on to putting it back together.

Good luck :D (in the positive type of comment ;) ).

Made good progress tonight. I finally received all the parts that I had been waiting on (not yours Kief). Its all back together, new power steering, air pump, and some new hoses, and used but better then my old. The plan for tomorrow is to get it outside and flush the power steering pump and work out the air bubbles. Then I'll take it to work with me on Thursday and pressure wash the underneath of it so I can replace the oil pan gasket, and some output and pinon seals.

So far no baby, but that could all change. Getting closer. I will be bumper less at Mcgrew, because that is where I'm picking up my new one from Dirtgypsy.:bounce::bounce::bounce::bounce:

Well I got the pan off, what a pain in the Ass. It took awhile to get the pan separated from the block. I had to take a box knife and cut into the gasket until I got one side done. After that I took my bottle jack and applied pressure to the bottom of the pan and pried the other side off. It was a very frustrating job, anytime I felt the need to start cussing and screaming I would just walk away for 10 to 15 minutes. Anyways it is off, time to start cleaning and removing the old gasket, it is coming off pretty easy. Getting closer to both Mcgrew and baby, well see how the rest of the weekend goes.

well hey man if you need a hand with that stuff lemmy know I have personaly done 4 wheelers ive had, but that was on the interior and also under the truck... and that 3mm stuff works great as but then get another coat i cant remember the name and it is amazing!

Well it all got put back together, well see if anything shows up in the next day or two. It went together pretty smooth. I really thought putting back together was going to be ruff. I read some pages in tech about seals not fitting right and what not. I guess I'll see if I got it right. Anyways I hope to get the rest finished before Mcgrew, if I don't I'll live.

Finished both rear output shaft and pinon seal in about hours time. It went very smooth. Anyways just an update.

I know it is after Mcgrew but I got permission from the wife to work on the rear bumper tomorrow. So I get to drill out frame rivets, not looking forward to it. I'm sure I'll walk away cussing and screaming a few times tomorrow.

Good Luck! and remember that everything works better with beer!

no cussing or screaming. I drilled them all out and used my air chisel to finish the deal. Got the bumper mounted up, (about dropped it on my toes, not sure how it missed) I'm going to make some changes so its not up for good. I got to find some parts for the spindle. New bearings and races, I'm going to try Napa and see, I don't want to have to order a whole new spindle assembly just to replace some parts. Ordered a new latch tonight. Once this all gets fixed then off to get powder coated.

You did something wrong then.

I am not a fan of powder coating, myself.

One tiny break in the powder coat, and rust will spread underneath it. You will never be able to tell until it starts flaking off.

Just my two cents. :meh:
