Thick Rubber on a lx570 for urban street offroading?

Can that be adjusted or tweaked?

Do you recommend LC over LX in regards to suspension? I currently have 1.5" slee old man emu lift LX470 with my 16" wheels and love it. I felt like LX was taller than my rig, so height isnt the issue. I love how when I go over potholes at fast speeds, I don't feel anything. When I drove the LX it had 20" wheels so we felt the bumps slightly. The air ride is a bit more disconnected then the springs which was both good and bad. Putting 17" wheels and thicker rubber should help with absorption of road irregularities but I don't know how I feel about running over curbs/medians and gravel roads with the air suspension?

My LX470 has one issue that it can hydroplane when it flash floods not sure if its because of the Michelin LTX M+S tires? Will the 200 be more planted?

If you want to upgrade the suspension (and it sounds like you DO if you appreciated OME upgrades in the past...), then I would AVOID the LX and go with the Cruiser. The LX means you're paying for AHC when it sounds like you don't really like it...and if you want to upgrade, you'd be removing it anyway.

I have BP-51's on my LC and love it. The faster you hit bumps, the better they feel. Seriously great at handling bumps at speed.

Thanks for the advice! The LX is $1k cheaper than the LC. Just not sure if I am ready to rip out the suspension of $30k vehicle. Last time I waited until AHC issues started.

Just watched this video:

I love it! It looks like it will cost $3k. Will the vehicle sit at normal height? Not sure if it will look funny on a LX.

$3k is alot of money compared to the Old Man EMU setup for the LX470. I am split about doing it. I don't offroad, I just drive recklessly on the road.

BP-51's handle extremely well on the street. Much better than stock on my 200. Highly recommend them. Just make sure you adjust preload on the coil-overs, as they come from the factory too stout (ARB assumes you have a heavy bumper/winch in front). You'll want to back the adjustment ring down to about 5mm of thread (will make sense when you see them).

About "ripping the suspension out of a $30k vehicle:
-The stock vehicle would have done well to give you BP-51's or lesser Old Man Emu from the beginning. Huge improvement no matter where you drive.

Do you know how does the BP-51 compare to Old Man EMU for LX470?

I was driving my LX470 and loving my Old Man EMU suspension ALOT! This is what makes me a crazed Land Cruiser Fan.

I had Old Man Emu setup on my 100 series (the Cruiser version of your 470) and was happy with it.
BP-51's are made by Old Man Emu...and are basically their high-end offering. They are amazing. They include a reservoir to allow for more compression...and they also allow you to make custom compression and rebound adjustments without removing them. If you liked your OME stuff, you will LOVE their latest and greatest in the BP-51. They aren't cheap, but just a very nice setup for all conditions. Big bumps...little bumps...all are handled extremely well, and especially at high speed.

Thank you soo much for your advice. You are helping me build my ultimate Rig.

I am debating between the LX or LC as the base model. I prefer the interior of the LX and exterior look, but not sure if its going to be easy to rip out the Hydraulic stuff. My mechanic doesn't charge me much.

If you prefer Old Man Emu...then why be concerned about AHC removal? If you no likey...no keepy!

Personally, I find the LC to be WAY better looking than the LX both in and out...but that's just personal preference. I especially hate the look of the 2016 LX. Bleh! But anyway... If the AHC isn't costing you more...then no need to feel bad removing it. Again...just my two cents... ;)

I emailed SLEE and they said that there is no known way of removing AHC from a LX570 currently. It's got me bugged. I was about to buy a 2009 LX570.

I like the LX better than the LC, nicer leather, nicer stereo/eletronics, nicer exterior. Although I am half tempted to spend $5-7k to make a replica of the vehicle in the video:

I normally buy black cars but may by the gold one just to mimic the one in the video (although I have a feeling it may look ugly in person). I dont think Ill bother with the snorkel or the whatever the antenna is for on top of the bull bar. I don't even care for the winch (I am not a true offroader). I do love the ARB front and rear bumpers and probably matching sliders.

For me, I tend to think the LC is almost too nice inside. But meh... We have very different intentions/uses for the truck...so do what makes you smile when you hop in. I would wager Slee will eventually yank the AHC out of his LX... shop...but if he ever does, who knows if that will be something you can reproduce easily... Personally, I think the LX's suspension isn't great on road sitting low...and it's not great sitting high off-road. It's a compromise in both positions. So... Pffft. No thanks. ;) LC for me...with the suspension I choose.

Yeah I got to only drive it for 10 minutes yesterday and that was my feeling as well. Not great at any one setting. It felt really flat and lifeless but sometimes that is a good thing. I was trying hard to like it but left the dealership wanting more.

How much did the BP-51 setup run you? $2k in parts? Was it hard to install?

Give me a better idea of my current LX470 setup vs this setup. Is it night and day difference? Do you feel its worth the extra $$$? I think they mentioned putting 35s tires in one video.

Talk to Slee or Cruiser Outfitters. If you get the SPC upper control arms (and you should so that you can get proper alignment), it will run you about $3500 plus around 500-600 if you have someone install them. I did not install them myself. The shop I used was bad news, too. Had to re-do them twice(!!), but not because of the BP-51s!

Ok will do. Was it worth the extra $2k? I know my bp-61s are nice and I think they could be a tad bit better but having a hard time imagining alot better, even though that video was super impressive.

My shop had to redo the bp-61s on my lx470 twice as well.

Typically the dealer cost for swapping your TPS sensors to another set of wheels is low. All you gotta do is break the outer bead, push on the sidewall, and you can slip the sensor out.
Is anyone running wheels without TPMS sensors? I am quite capable of monitoring my own tire pressure and don't need or want the TPMS sensors, and I can cover up the TPMS light. I would rather keep them on my factory wheels, rather than having to transfer them to the aftermarket wheels.

Yes. Discount tire charged me $6 per wheel for a minor re-packing kit that reseals them, etc. Not a big deal at all. I agree with the OP that we're capable of monitoring pressure without it...BUT--I've been impressed with how accurate the sensors are! They are spot on when I compare with a quality gauge. Pretty happy to know that, and it makes me feel much more friendly toward the concept. The only irritating thing is that there is no indication of WHICH CORNER is what pressure. Just a list of pressures...and a guess at which is really the spare. But it does give you a good idea of where you are, and also how much the pressure changes with heat and conditions.
