In the middle of replacing all the cooling system comsumables after a hose burst, started at the t-stat for no reason...
Based on this image:
I bought this gasket, though I missed that it was a superseded number, the original was -61020
But this feels very much like round peg, not round hole. Not only do the mounting holes not line up, at all in any orientation, the thermostat doesn't fit through the opening from either direction. (I think, now questioning that I tried it from both sides, but it'd be odd that I didn't... still, end of the day and I'm human). It also looks like the kind of gasket I'd expect to fit into a space that matched the stamped ridge/groove.
I'd go off what was there, but it was RTV/goop that wasn't doing its job anyway. The T-stat was an aftermarket, top rubber seal was more like dried out play-doh than anything else. Just wondering what's Supposed to be there? Keep in mind that I have an 'Early' '82, lots of stuff is different for me. Looking though other threads, there's a gasket mentioned but never pictured and the only mention of RTV is as an emergency repair.
I'm perfectly capable of making a gasket if this is a NLA thing, just curious what's Supposed to be there.
Thanks!
