Thermo Fans - who loves them, who hates them?

Hi guys,

My prado has shat the fan clutch, i'm in the process of deciding whether to change over to thermo fan or buy another clutch.

From what I've worked out so far, the it's going to cost me about the same to change over to thermo.

The main question i have is do thermo's cause more trouble than what they're worth, ie do they s*** themselves after numerous water crossings etc

I could never see the reasoning behind the electric fans. The stock unit works well.

I have electric fans on Tencha .. they work just fine for me, I had them on less than year with a one heavy off road trip and they do the job, stationary they keep the temp better than fan clutch and on HW they work just the same for me .. just my .002 cents

Hate the damn things, when you pull up on the trail or the beach to talk to someone the damn fan keeps running useless you wire it so it doesn't, and some are really loud.

It likely never gets cold enough there for an electric fan to offer any advantage.
