To points earlier-

I have owned boats. One Champion and one Lund. Both good, but Break Out Another Thousand is a fitting acronym. I think I'm done in that arena. I kayak and fly fish now

I know having a BMW of my era is a money loser. I have owned most of the American muscle stuff through the years. Now I just want a 4 door that goes fast. And I don't love the newer CTS-Vs. Had a few older ones. They were great.

I think I am leaning towards keeping mine while casually looking for the one that really checks all boxes. Like say one with zero miles, is almost free, and goes 0-60 in about 4 seconds.

Keep it, but do a cost analysis of both situations, to include the M loss regret and unavoidable repurchase of some other M.

Present total cost/savings of the 2 scenarios to financial manager

Spend some portion of savings, previously approved by finance manager, on parts for the LX or M.

meh- I have done this numbers ad nauseam. It is the right brain that is giving me trouble.

Thanks Ratchey- that is one that might make sense mileage and all. There are a couple local ones with similar specs.

Having just traded my M4 for a 2019 LC last month, don't sell your M car! I don't regret my decision because I love the LC and it makes way more sense for me at this point in my life, but if I could've kept both I would have. That's a dream garage! Honestly the newer LXs aren't much different from yours and at 187k miles you're less than half of the useful life.

You don't want to know the feeling of driving by an M car after you just sold yours lol

Dallas- i do know the pain of selling an M and missing it. I had a 15 M3 and loved it. Sold it and a truck to buy a TRD Pro Tundra. I still think the M3/4 look better but the M5 is a beast. I can only imagine the newer all wheel drive versions putting the power to the ground.

I have just started looking at used LX's and am having a hard time with just how much people value mileage on these. It seems like under 60k miles the price really jumps, then as it gets close to 100k it drops, and 120k+ they almost become "affordable". But the wife is REALLY having a hard time with their value at the 100k mark, and I honestly can't blame her.

In the great white north of Wisconsin a vehicle with 100k that is 10 years old is usually considered well past it prime, the cold weather and salt really do a number on vehicles. But it seems like out of the rust belt and in fairer climates 10 years and 100k ain't sh!t.

With that being said I did find what I consider the perfect used LX with the exception of the color....black. I am far to obsessed with paint appearance to do black again. 2013 w/ 120k, everything you would want maintained or replaced was. But it had some scratches I KNEW would need to be repaired, and in the end I just knew black would be the death of me. So the search continues, and the nice part is we don't NEED an LX any time soon.

TLDR; you aren't in a rush, so shop around and then you will know when a good deal comes up. If it feels right then buy.

Jon- there is a guy locally (KC) who has a 13 w/118 and the service history is right. He's a bit over 30. If I was looking for one, it would be on my list. Gray though... Mine is silver and I had a hard time with it but the service on mine was almost unbelievable.
