Wanted to put up a shelf 8x4 feet 10 feet in the air. Ceiling height is 14 feet and the over head door supports are 12 feet off the floor.

Was all alone ( except for the FJ ) and wanted to see if I could do it myself.

The shelf is for TLC parts, to get them off the floor until needed , for a frame off restoration.

Thanks jb

Very nice! You should be able to get a LOT of 40 gear up there and safe.

And when you and the Mrs are not seeing eye to eye, just throw a mattress up there...

The chain is a cool idea. I did that for smaller shelves around my garage. Used a 2x4 header around the wall, put 2'x8' 3/4" plywood on it with eye hooks at the front, with a large washer underneath to prevent pull through. Then ran a chain though the sheetrocked ceiling, around a rafter, then back to itself and made a loop there with a but and bolt. Have had them installed now for 20 years with no problems. Simple, easy and cheap, and they're not eyesores.

You wouldn't do that back in your homeland (where there are earthquakes).

But I envy your S-P-A-C-E.
