So due to just a few people knowing and more asking whenever I reference it I thought I'd make a post detailing what happened to my truck. STORY TIME:

Two and a half weeks ago, Friday, I was driving my buddy back to his house. We had just gotten off of school and didn't feel like doing much. So I was driving him back. Imagine this: A two lane road with a turn lane to split the two lanes. I was going up the described road behind a fair amount of traffic but I wanted to turn left. The light was red and I was way back the line so I checked to see that nobody was coming up the lane and hopped into it to turn left at the light. I start driving up to the light doing ~25-30mph cautiously passing cars making sure to watch that nobody else was going to get in the lane to turn (it happens and sometimes people don't look). I was probably 40ft away from the light when suddenly a woman in her Honda Fit veers straight into me. I s*** you not. No warning. No turn signal. Nothing. Immediately after the impact my buddy looks to me, chuckles, and says, "I knew this thing would take an impact like a tank."

Her defense to the officer was "I was trying to avoid rear-ending the person in front of me." She was probably texting but the officer didn't even check, which kind of surprised me. What surprised me even more was how cold the lady was who hit me, even though I put on my cordial southern smile for her.

Anyways, things went pretty well after that. "Sweeet, new front bumper" I thought to myself. I was also planning on purchasing new turn signal housings anyway, so now insurance gets to pay for that but more on the damage later. I decided I was probably going to be waiting around for a while so I started chatting with the officer (she took a solid hour to get to the scene too). I get tired of standing around so I hop back in the truck to sit with my friend and out of nowhere another car slams into the two people in front of him! So what was a pretty nice two car collision basically turns into a five car pile-up. I wave down the officer who was back in her cruiser and she looked a bit puzzled, sticks her head out the window and I yell to her, "Yeah you're not gonna believe this... Three more cars just wrecked." She laughed and got back in the cruiser to finish up her paper work before going to deal with the next three drivers.

This is where the story winds down. I gave Nick (2000UZJ) a call to tell him what had happened and like a hero he skipped out of work for a couple hours to come help me out. Thanks again, Nick! And after that the rest is history.

^Yeah, that's Nick's hood.

Now I'm rollin' in a 2014 Chevy Tahoe LT with all the bells and whistles. Still doesn't drive like a hundy though. My truck has been in the shop for about two and a half weeks now but they haven't started working on repairs yet. Exterior damages totaled to about $5200, that is, not including suspension damages. I just received a call today about the suspension.

They threw the truck on the alignment rack and said that basically the entire front right suspension is going to need to be redone: UCAs, LCAs, knuckle spindle, maybe shocks, tie rods, the whole 9 yards. Right now I'm just hoping that they don't total my baby. I should get an estimate back from the collision shop tomorrow on what the suspension is going to run and I'll update with that info when I get it.

That's all for now except for one small tidbit I left out. The woman who hit me? Yeah, I saw her in Fellini's less than a week after the wreck. I think she recognized me but she definitely kept her distance.

I can see the tie rod bent, and the knuckle, but the rest was fine. The UCA may bent, but the way it's stamped makes it very easy to check. The LCA is probably te strongest I've ever seen on a passenger vehicle, not likely bent. The only thing I sat, was the knuckle bent. The body shop wants to replace all those components since it was hit, and not replacing them becomes a liability if something breaks, or a tire is worn. My bet is the camber bolts shifted during the impact and you lost all camber settings, as well as the knuckle bending.

As far as suspension components that need replacement, I'm betting the knuckle is the only part that actually needs to be replaced. I'm no professional, but the more stuff the shop can replace = bigger profits on parts and labor.

Have you gotten a second opinion from a other shop?

Unfortunately we couldn't haul it around to a bunch of different locations to get different estimates (and this shop has taken weeks already, don't want to prolong things) so this is just going to be the shop we use. But we've worked with the shop before and they're pretty honest people. I don't really care what components they replace as long as it's OEM.

God damn Hondas... Haha sorry to hear about the accident they are no fun!

Glad noone got hurt (and she sounds like a real bitch!)

What bumper to get? I wonder if you had one of those bars that go between a rock slider and armored bumper if that would have saved you completely...

Do you have the opportunity to upgrade your UCAs, front bumper and shocks now?

I'm not going to tell you yes, but I'm absolutely not going to say no. I'll update a little more once the repair process begins.

I'm more glad that she wasn't hurt cause she got the brunt of things. But yeah the woman was a complete bitch, it was actually shocking.

Ya know, I bet the fender bar would have protected a little bit but I don't know that it would have saved all of the damage. I guess I'll never know :meh:

I've had a ticket for driving in the turn lane for too long. Hopefully you were close to the traffic light when the accident happened...

Bummer. Hate seeing cruisers damaged by other cars....damage from trail running? awesome. let us know if they end up repairing or retiring her. If insurance says "retired" are you going to buy her back and fix her or just be on the lookout for a new hundy? And if so, what's your dream year?

so.... what you're saying is that half the parts yo'd have to chop off for a solid-axle swap are done for anyway... :hhmm:

I hope they clarified the woman was at fault if she made a sudden lane change without warning.

Oh there was no clarification needed for fault. The woman literally admitted fault to the officer. Made my argument a lot easier and I think I opened my eyes a little wide when she admitted that.

I didn't realize that was a thing so I kinda tried to make it clear to the officer that I was relatively close to the light when I entered the turn lane. It would've been some bull if I got fault for the accident.

I'll update tomorrow, which is when I should be receiving the final supplement or information that they're considering it totalled. I haven't decided what I'm going to do if they retire it, but I guess I should start frequenting the forums. I actually really like the 60's and the 80's cause of looks and capability, but honestly I know much more about the 100 than either of the other series so I'd probably stick to a 100. Probably, not definitely. Dream year for a 100 is the 98 for the rear locker, 2000 cause I'm partial :flipoff2: and maybe an 07 but that's out of price range. Plus I would want an 03+ without NAV and those prove hard to find. So either a 98 or 2000. Definitely LC though, no LXs for me!

I can tell you right now, the SAS isn't gonna happen haha it sure would be nice though!!

Quick update: All estimates have been complete (almost 4 weeks after the wreck) and I now have a total estimate of damages. Over 7k, but not totaled. The suspension supplement came back and I will need to get new outer tie rods, knuckle spindle, wheel hub, and upper control arms. This was such a blessing in disguise that I have already started ordering parts. I went ahead and purchased a new set of Light Racing uppers as well as placed an order for a used knuckle and hub.

Tomorrow I'll be placing orders for Ironman Foam Cell rears and ProFender front remote shocks. I'm still searching for some kind of tube bumper but if all else fails I'll go with an 03+ ARB. I have also placed orders for new clear turn signal housings and a NATO style hitch. Last on the list of parts is White Knuckle sliders which I will hopefully have the money for but I had to basically overnight the suspension parts to get everything in on time.

Another great thing is that since I had a piece of door in the tire they are purchasing a new one and I get to keep the old as a spare! @SWUtah I demanded all OEM and more, I'm sure they're tired of having me as a customer :D repairs should be complete by friday and I'll have the cruiser back in action :bounce2:

That would have to be some kind of record turnaround time for getting back on the road especially dealing with the other persons insurance company. Glad to hear it's getting sorted out so quickly and you get to keep YOUR cruiser. They quickly become family members don't they?

Seems rather familiar, as my fathers truck just got hit this past year whilst in a parking lot. Then a few days later he smacked a fawn on his way to work. We just finished adding the ARB front. That thing is well worth it.

Update 2: The knuckle and hub arrived on time this past Friday when the shop was supposed to be finishing up work. Of course they had delays and it won't be done till Thursday. This is not entirely bad though because the UCAs didn't come in till Saturday even though they were supposed to be in on Friday. Shout out to MetalTech for trying to get them here Friday though, this delay was on UPS.

I've also been in contact with ACC about a front bumper and have decided that going the custom route would be much too expensive so I think I am going to pull the trigger on the Blueberry tomorrow as well as finally order my shocks (never got around to it but am not in a rush on those).

As a last note, the turn signal housings also have not arrived yet after two-ish weeks. They're coming in from AUS but I'm a little surprised they're not here yet. Hopefully they'll be in before the truck is released to me! And I'm also hoping to get the suspension parts in by this weekend so I can finally lift the beast :D smaller updates will be following as I hear more and get more goodies

Just responding because the only way to read the response is to hit quote, since a Allstate add is covering the text. What a pain in the BUTT, I will never buy Allstate insurance, I hate these BS pop ups

Slee Blueberry, Profender Remote 2.0s, and Ironman Foam Cells on the way as of today! Should get the truck back either tomorrow or Thursday and the bumper and lift will be installed a week from Thursday :D Even with all the mods being done I only had to pay $200 out of pocket for everything.

On another note, the turn signal housings still haven't come in...

Good for you! We want to see pic's of the finished product.
