more from yesterday

Above the Acheron Valley yesterday arvo, Taggerty and Thornton are below, and some pics of my new headlight globes for AnthonyCDs to look at.

EDIT: these pics - i've replaced both bulbs with the Chinese ones...extracting my dual battery was a pain...Tony, i didnt have to remove the ARB battery tray, but it was tricky to get the bulbs/globes in and out...anyway
These pics show the Chinese bulbs (left and right) in daylight. Which doesnt show much, but nor do the OEMs. As i mentione dearlier, i need night or evening pics.

so Tony the lights arent that bright in the daylight. But once it hits night time...yeah they are ok.
I'll get some pics of the night. I'll give them 7 out of ten. Only coz i cant remember how good or bad the OEM globes were. These do make a nice white light as described on the eBay ad...(advertisement) so maybe i should mark it up to 8 out of ten.

EDIT: When i finally got home last night it was dark and the globes were bright and lit up my driveway like nothing before.

Maybe i was harsh. Ok...8.5 out of 10.
I'll get the night pics soon.

Last pic is with eBay globes in the daylight...around 4pm, but in Australia (Victoria) with fading light.
The sun in that pic, is not helping. Are they bright? no, not in the daylight. Once the light fades? Yes. They are different to what i am used to.
Thats all i can say really. You have to see them, or experience them.
I'll keep them in for a while. Unfortunately i;m not working after this Friday so i cant test them with real people. We'll see.

Peter, those pics don't look bad at all. IMO the sweet spot for light temp is 4300k-5000k. It doesn't look like you have that 'Ebay-lookin glare', despite where you got it from :flipoff2: I think it looks real good.

Definitely mind the coloration of your light output over time, as colored bulbs are known to fade, and diminish true light output. Also, to test in comparison the output vs factory bulbs. Same, if not better over factory. Just not worse.

Otherwise, I like the look a lot. It doesn't appear to have any glare as HIDs do in reflective housings. Since they are in fact incandescent globes/bulbs.

Night time pics when you get a chance. Happy Easter!

Tony yeah with regards to longevity...that's why i am happy with the packaging so i can store the "old" globes. As it turned out the RH/F low beam was on its way out...some fusing on the [STRIKE]lense[/STRIKE] glass. Timing is everything!
When i had the OEM RH and Chinese/eBay LH i hit some bumpy offroad tracks for about 3 hours solid, which i know isnt much, but at the speed i was travelling the eBay globe shone through, pardon the pun.
Now with both sides i'm actually happy with them for now.

All i need to get is some night time pics :flipoff2: today was a big AFL (Aussie rules) game so i am over the limit and cant drive!
Collingwood won, by the way.
cheers
peter

oh and e9999 it's Autumn (Fall) here....so you need to re-instate my posts coz Spring is a long time off here :flipoff2:

was surfin' the web yesterday and came across this sweet 100 series (105 technically) UTE. haven't seen any pics of it on MUD, so here ya go:
100uteweb.jpg

don't think i'd do this to my 100, but if i had one to spare i'd rock it

^sounds like a great excuse to buy a tube bender!

found some more pics of this beauty. i believe it was created by 4B Fabrications, AU:

must be sweet to see this train rollin' down the hwy
Wandin1.jpg

only thing i'd have wanted different on this rig is integrate the rear door's fixed window into the cab sides like Slee did on the Vlakvark UTE - definitely helps complete the look. now i might have to buy up an 80 someday and chop it up since they're getting so cheap these days. i'd most likely chop into something similar to a 1st gen 4runner with a full length snap-on soft topper. either that or if it were to become a truck with a bed, i'd somehow integrate the roll-down back window from a 4runner. NOW we're talkin' custom!
