This was the first thing I thought of a couple of years ago when I first saw that super cool tailgate box that WagonGear sells for the 60's and 80's.
I would love to have one but how does the "law" see it?

I am surprised that Shoupe was the first one to post this. Our regular civil-liberty poster is Justbecause.

just exactly who gets to decide what a "secret compartment" is? Every vehicle you have ever driven has compartments all over it. Behind the door panels, under the dash, inside the tailgate space. I have tons of junk stashed inside the wheelwell compartment of my 80. Does that make me a JUNK SMUGGLER (insert joke here). If there is nothing illegal in the vehicle, what law have I broken just by maximizing my load carrying capability?

Y'all are just being paranoid. The police would never abuse the system like that.

The reward to a LEO's career for finding a "stash" is greater than the punishment for abusing your rights. Finding drugs etc. in your car even when searching w/o probable cause will score the officer a bump in rank and pay so it is worth the risk that he might be challenged for infringing on your right to non consent. Most people aren't even aware that they can say no to request to search the inside of their vehicle. If you are subjected to a search w/o consent and want to pursue action against the officer the cost of litigation usually keeps average Joe from filing a suit.
In short, its a lose lose situation for Average Joe.

Why should I buy this? Can you just burn me a copy of yours?

I didnt realize I copy and pasted their advertisement video. I didnt even know they had a DVD, they have tons of stuff on their youtube page.

Or had... it has been a while since I checked their page out, they may have taken down all their free content, that video used to be a lot longer.

When being confronted by police, "Do Not" assume they know the law regarding anything. Most do not have a clue about personal protection, concealed and open carry. Or, to often, laws governing search and seizure. Just ask any officer in Thomasville, AL.

In "most" places where I understand the law to a degree...I'm very accommodating...in prattville AL I am not accommodating. I spent 2hrs on the side of the road sitting on my tailgate because I had a rifle as two hand guns in my car...mind you I had my CC permit and all the guns are clean...

Secret compartment my ass butters...it's like arresting a suspected slash murderer because he had a knife in his car.

I'm almost as crazy-anti-gov as "just because I hate my luxury SUV"

Hippopotamus cornchip to you sir

I'm not that anti government. I just wish we were more free, taxed less, that the government didn't kill so many people, we didn't waste so much money to incarcerate people who have never committed and act of force or fraud...

The deceleration of independence and the bill of rights is some seriously cool s***. I wish we could get back to that.
